nillamaryParticipantI’m building a photography site with the Ethos 2 Stack, which will include my portfolio with many images but also include WooCommerce sending the photo to a Printing company.
I need to know how to do the following please:
1. Display all images (low KB files) for the web?
But also:
2. Retain all original image files (high MB files) in a database so that WooCommerce can send this file to the printer?3. In addition, I’ve researched here and online and note that Google Developers site state: “If you can eliminate an image resource, which often requires a large number of bytes relative to HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other assets on the page, then that is always the best optimization strategy.” Can you please advise how I would do this?
My site is just a shell at the moment without much CSS customisation.

ChristianModeratorHey there,
There is no function for this available out of the box. This would require custom programming which is outside the scope of our support. You might want to contact our trusted partners who caters X setup and customization needs. Please see https://community.theme.co/custom-development/
Thanks.

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing back. You can eliminate unnecessary images from your site but I believe no one uses unnecessary images on their site. Still if you have any image that could be taken off then check for those to minimize the resource load. Also you can just optimize the images before uploading. You can use http://compressor.io/ which is a good tool to optimize images without loosing the quality.

nillamaryParticipantThanks for getting back to me.
Agreed – as this will be a photography site, then I don’t believe I will have unecessary images.
I need to display optimised images on my landing page, which I can do – I believe the landing page is how Google measures everything (but I could be wrong). As I said previously for my Portfolio (Galleries), I also need to display optimised images online, however, have WooCommerce call on the original files to send to the Printer. Think the image management is a WordPress question.
Thanks again

JoaoModeratorHi There,
When exporting your images on Phothsop it usually does not need to be exported with the top quality, very good should be enough.
When you need a image 200px 200px try to upload an image with this size, if in another instance you need the image 1600px 1000px upload it two times and use it the right size on each page.
Also before uploading the image you can upload your images to tinypng.com to compress them without losing quality.
Hope that helps
Joao
