nillamaryParticipantI would like my travel photography site to contain 3 columns across at fullwidth, of images in separate countries with the following functions:
1. Image displays and hovering over the image displays the country name or alternatively, the image displays the country name/title
2. Clicking the image, takes the user to that country’s photos in the portfolio/gallery
3. Once the actual image is displayed, the user can click the Shop icon to continue to purchase the imageWith the above in mind and the best way to handle this, my questions:
1. Is it better to create one Gallery or Portfolio, which contains all countries (I have about 50 countries and 900+ images)?
2. Do I need to create a Gallery or Portfolio page as a container, then add images (products)?
3. I have the WooCommerce plugin activated, how do I link my images (products) to the Shop? Many thanks!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in!
#1. You can use the Portfolio if you don’t use this for any other purpose as it’s easy to manage.
#2. Portfolio items need to be created individually. And you need to create a page with page template “Layout – Portfolio” to all the portfolios there.
#3. Your shop page should contain the products with the link to single products. Not sure what you are referring by “how do I link my images (products) to the Shop?” Do you want a link to your shop within the single product page? You can use the menu to link the shop.
Hope this makes sense.

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
#1 Yes, please check demo here http://demo.theme.co/ethos-1/portfolio/
#3 In this case, you should setup shop page with woocommerce, you can’t combine shop and portfolio pages together, since the usage are different.
Check shop page demo here http://demo.theme.co/shop-ethos/Hope it helps.

nillamaryParticipantThanks Christopher.
3. I don’t think setting up a shop page will be what I’m trying to achieve. Apart from my current site’s link above, which is what I would like for my new site, this is another example created with X using the same principal: http://www.warephotography.com.au/gallery/beaches/
If I can’t link my WooCommerce to my Portfolio, which contains country galleries where a single image can be clicked and taken to a cart, how do I set what I want to achieve up?

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
Provided link used ‘Essential grid’ plugin, each grid item links to related product page. See the attachment.
Hope it helps.

nillamaryParticipantIs this the best way? Will the plug-in slow down my page?

JadeModeratorHi there,
Using that plugin should be fine.
Hope this helps.
