I can’t figure out how to get past this error.
I changed ownership of the wp-content/plugins folder to my root user, and CHMOD’d everything to 777, yet
I still get the error “Your WordPress file permissions do not allow plugins to be installed.”

    I can’t figure this out…

    Hey There,

    Thanks for writing in!

Please try resetting your WordPress files and folders permissions. The correct settings can be found here :

    http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/05/08/proper-wordpress-filesystem-permissions-ownerships/.

After resetting folders and files permissions, please keep all third party plugins disabled and try to install X addons plugins.

Also check the PHP version on your server and make sure it’s 5.6+ or higher.

Let us know how it goes.
