Hacksign5ParticipantHi guys, thanks for being an awesome community. I love this place and keeping this community forum going has been a monumental resource for using this theme dynamically and properly.
However, Im getting to where I want to add some text elements to my header area (right above the navbar) without using a topbar. (I don’t like it being displayed all in-line across the top of the screen, the phone number needs to be more visible to the client for reasons I must adhere to),
and overall, I:
1. have the child theme installed, activated, and able to modify.2. Do not know how to add files to it, or know which files it should have. As of now, it only has styles.css and I haven’t been able to find any information on adding PHP files to it and whatnot.
if anyone can quickly let me know how that’s done I’d be grateful as ever. Thankyou!
3. (additional clarification, I hear and see everyone talking about /framework/views/ directory, is that on my local machine or somewhere through the dashboard? I see no mention of where that directory may be located.)

JoaoModeratorHi There,
First of all, thank you for your kind words.
The child theme works this way, you need to copy the file from the original theme in the correspondent folder(same folder) on your child theme and alter that file.
Would you mind providing a mockup of what you have in mind in order that we can help you?
Thanks
Joao

Hacksign5ParticipantYeah of course Joao, and while you definitely sound like you have the answer I need, I may need a little specific instruction on each time. 🙂 File, (which?), folder, (which folder in my child theme, just the whole thing in general as a file? I still don’t know where to find framework/views)
But what I’m trying to do is just modify my header to have social, 2 phone numbers (The 800 number and the regular office main line to sales), email, and some font awesome icons right by each of em. I’d want the office hours and email to the left of the logo, and the numbers to the right 🙂
Important additional Information:
I am using the agency expanded demo and would like the navbar and logo and all of the phone info to be able to follow the navbar down as the user scrolls. (I will size the header and navbar appropriately to make this work in a way that is not obstructive to the user’s exploration of website content, we just want the phone number to be in the header following the user so they can call at any time without looking for a number once they’ve determined we’re the service that is right for them. Additionally, it is HIGHLY ideal to not use a TOPBAR for this.)December 23, 2016 at 9:28 pm #1303320
FriechModeratorHi There,
Base on your explanation you want to edit the navigation bar section. If so the file that you’re looking for is the _navbar.php file. You can locate this on \wp-content\themes\x\framework\views\global\.
Copy this file on \wp-content\themes\x-child\framework\views\global\ and then do your modification on that copied file.
You can access this directory by logging in on you server via FTP or logging in on your Cpanel and accessing the file via File Manager. But the FTP would be more convenient.
Please provide us your site URL and lets see if the modification you need is feasible on topbar.
Thanks.

NicoModeratorHi There,
Yes, the suggested file above is the right file to be customized.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks.

Hacksign5ParticipantYeah I just don’t know how to SFTP or github my website account. :/ Are there any guides on accessing the site files themselves? Because, where I’m stuck at is using either FTP/SFTP -or- github to access those files and am trying to work through the motions to get there, and I didn’t even know thats what I had to do for a long time. It would be good mention the complexity of the process to beginners under some of the other guides that involve editing child themes.
Have a good one.January 2, 2017 at 10:30 pm #1313631
RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing back. You can create FTP accounts from your hosting account/dashboard. I don’t know which hosting provider you are using, so can’t tell exactly but if you reach to them, they will provide you the guide. Here is a general guide about FTP – http://www.wikihow.com/Use-FTP
Cheers!
