ajonesxParticipantMywebsite.com (not built with WordPress) has two WordPress installations. These are a pre-existing mywebsite.com/original_blog/ folder which does not use X Theme and is online and searchable, and a new mywebsite.com/xtheme/ folder which is built with X Theme but hidden by your included ‘Under Construction’ app.
I’m using the hidden mywebsite.com/xtheme/ folder to rebuild and ultimately replace my entire existing online website and original blog.
I’d like to test how some of the new features that I’m designing respond when they’re online (specifically seeing how they respond on actual mobile devices, not just in the simulations provided in Cornerstone.) However, the hidden mywebsite.com/xtheme/ folder that the redesign is being done in has many pages and there are lots of pages that are duplicates of those found in mywebsite.com.
I don’t want to bring the /xtheme/ folder online to make these real world tests because Google has been relatively kind to me and I don’t want to risk freaking them out by showing the contents of the hidden /xtheme/ redesign folder online.
My current X Theme activation was done from the WordPress installation in the /xtheme/ folder, but my Themeco Dashboard says that the license covers the entire mywebsite.com site (which is good!)
Question: Can I load X Theme into the mywebsite.com/original_blog/ WordPress installation as well to test the online/real world behavior of some elements that I’m working on … or will having two separate X Theme loads in two separate folders on mywebsite.com cause conflicting activation issues?
Thanks

RahulModeratorHi there,
You can revoke license from the site which is currently inactive and use it on the new test site and when you are done testing, you can revoke again and use it on the site which you want to use it on.
I hope this helps.
Thanks

ajonesxParticipantHi Rahul… thanks for the quick reply.
The question is:
Both WordPress installations/folders are on the same mywebsite.com domain which is registered with Themeco as the authorized website. The two WordPress installations are in the mywebsite.com/existing_blog/ folder which is not using the X-Theme, and mywebsite.com/xtheme/ folder which has X-Theme installed.
I’d like to load X-Theme to the mywebsite.com/existing_blog/ folder as well so there would be two different X-Theme installations in two different WordPress folders attached to mywebsite.com.
Is this allowed?
Will the two separate X-Theme installations in the same website cause any activation problems?
Or is this okay because both folders (i.e. mywebsite.com/existing_blog/ & mywebsite.com/xtheme/) are part of the authorized domain (i.e. mywebsite.com)?

RahulModeratorHi there,
Sorry if there is any confusion. Licenses work on multisites or even multiple isntalls as long as they are on the same domain. For example http://www.yourdomain.com/region1 to http://www.yourdomain.com/region7 will work, however region1.yourdomain.com will not work and will require separate licenses for each if you are doing separate installs.
You would need to do a WordPress multisite install and validate on the main domain meaning set the API key for that domain. In a multisite install you can set it to use folders (www.yourdomain.com/region1) or subdomains (region1.yourdomain.com) the main domain controls the theme settings accross all sites so if you validate there it gets passed down to all sites within the multisite network.
Hope this helps clear things up. Thanks!

ajonesxParticipantHi Rahul. You said ‘Licenses work on … multiple installs as long as they are on the same domain.’
This seems to be saying that it’s okay for me to have two separate X-Theme installations on mywebsite.com in two separate WordPress folders with the following urls in the same domain (mywebsite.com/existing_blog/ & mywebsite.com/xtheme/) Once again, X-Theme would only be installed in the two WordPress folders specified and it has not been used to design the rest of mywebsite.com which is non-wordpress. I also only have the one subscription.
Just a simple ‘yes you can do this dual-installation without activation problems’ or ‘no you can’t’ would be helpful.
Sorry to ask this again, but I’m not very technical and the additional discussion of multi-sites and sub-domains confused the issue some.

ChristianModeratorSorry for the confusion. Yes, that is allowed. If you need more details, please see https://community.theme.co/kb/product-validation/.
Thanks.
