GrangeLifeParticipantI can’t see how to get an image into the 1500 x 750 ‘gap’ section. I have uploaded a background image but it is not displaying. Have I gone wrong somewhere? Any help would be welcome!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in! Not sure why you are trying to place within Gap element. If you need a section with image then just use a min-height in Style field (i.e. min-height: 200px;) and set a background image for the section.
Hope this makes sense.

GrangeLifeParticipantHi Rupok,
Thank you for your response. I’m a X-Theme newbie and trying to find my way around. I’m practicing with Renew-5 and on my site http://www.grange-over-sands.life there is a 1500 x 750 space or ‘gap’ which I presumed is for an image hence me trying to put an image there. If it is not for am image what is this area for and how might it be utilised?
Could you also let me know how to go about saving my draft site content so that I can see how it looks on other demos provided with X-Theme. I’m not sure at this moment how to back-up etc.
Thanks for your help (and your patience!).

GrangeLifeParticipantI see now the ‘gap’ element is within the background image element and I can now put an image in the right element. I would welcome information as to why the gap element is where it is and what it might be used for. I would also welcome a newbies guide to back up and utilising my content on other X-Theme layouts.
Thanks again.

JoaoModeratorHi There,
First of all, welcome to X, I am sure that soon everything will feel very naturally for you and always come to us and ask in case you have doubts during your learning curve.
A gap element is not intended to hold a place for an image, in that case we use placeholder images with are usually grey images with the width and height written to make the life of the user easier when creating the layout.
A gap element is used to create spacing, I use it very often to align things around my website, or make the top of the containers even with the bottom, even if you also can use margin and padding. When I use the gap elements I also prefer to use % instead of px, I feel it responds better on mobile, but I guess that is not your issue right now…
The gap element will take space on the page just as a image, text element or any other element, so you cannot put an image on top of it. You need to delete the gap or put the image above or below.
Although following the layout given by our templates it is a good way of starting, I also recommend you to consider that our initial formula it may be a good layout to start, but not necessarily you should stick to it until the end of the page development, relax and create new parts or get rid of the parts you feel you do not need, it really depends on the amount and type of content you have to display.
That said, if you want to experiment with the other demos you can simply install the new demos and they won´t erase the pages(published or drafts) you created.
I recommend you having a look on our extended demos, they are complete websites, while the standard temo offer just the home pages.
If you decide to use a standard demo, or even a extended, there is quite a lot of content ready on Cornerstone Templates. To use them once you are in Cornerstone click in Templates and Insert Block(which can be inserted in page you are working) or a Template page (which will overwrite the whole content of your page). Any of this blocks or page templates they are also great starting point to start to design your pages. I recommend you having a look on them.
I hope this information was helpful, please reach us if you have any other question.
Thanks,
Joao

GrangeLifeParticipantHi Joao,
Thank you. I thought that installing the other demos would overwrite the existing page as I believe there is a warning to that effect.

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing back. If you set to import as page then whole page content will be replaced. But if you just add as block then it will be added to existing content.
Hope this makes sense. If you still have any question, feel free to let us know. We’ll be happy to assist you.
Cheers!
