WiljaParticipantHi, I am building a site with X and Renew. I am creating a BuddyPress community and want to customize BuddyPress a bit to get it more user friendly. Have read a lot at different sites such as BuddyPress.org but am confused how to do customize BuddyPress the best way..? Any experience, suggestions etc? Regards, Johanna

Prasant RaiModeratorHello There,
Thanks for writing in! Regretfully, at this time I am not entirely certain what it is you would like to accomplish based on the information given in your post. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do (a link to a similar example site would be very helpful, or perhaps some screenshots), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.
Thanks.

Rue NelModeratorHey Johanna,
Thank you for the clarifications! What you are trying to accomplish requires a template customization, we would like to suggest that you use a child theme. This allows you to make code changes that won’t be overwritten when an X update is released. After your child theme is setup, please review how we recommend making template changes in Customization Best Practices.
And you are correct that copy the buddypress template into your child theme. To know more about further details how you can customize it, please check this out:
As this is all custom development, regretfully we won’t be able to assist further. Custom development is outside the scope of our support. We’re happy to provide advice and get you started in the right direction, but you would still be responsible for the implementation.
Best Regards.
