leannevenierParticipantHi there, i haven’t been able to make any edits to any of my cornerstone pages on my site catalyticcolor.com for the last few months other than simple text edits.
The drag & drop feature doesn’t work & when i try to add or move any element it jumps way up the page and it can’t easily be dragged back down.
One of my cornerstone pages takes forever to load when trying to edit in cornerstone (see the link below) and when it finally loads i get a message at the top saying:
Hey, this page took a very long time to load, looks like there may be script conflicts.
(i never had any problems on any of my cornerstone pages before the last 2 Cornerstone updates.)
Also when you get to the bottom third of this page (this is the one with the script conflicts)
http://CatalyticColor.com/creative-flow-programs
the elements after the top 2/3’s don’t load on the preview window until I make some edit to their text. Then they appear.
Prior to making an edit, they all just show a spinning wheel on a blank background.
If you can take a look, that would be great!
Please don’t save any of my cornerstone pages if you touch any elements and they jump up the page. It’s taken me forever to fix them after that happened a couple timea. 🙂Thank you!
Will provide the login info in a private message.
Thank you!Leanne

leannevenierParticipantHi there, thank you for your reply!
I have a few questions to clarify as I’m not a developer or programmer (hence my choosing X for my theme 🙂 ).
Most of what you wrote for the steps I need to take to fix the problem is a bit Greek to me. 🙂
I didn’t realize I was using an old version of Cornerstone, so that may be a big part of the problem.
1. My Cornerstone plugin version is
Version 1.3.0But there’s no way in my wp-admin to update to the version you recommended.
In the past, whenever there was a new Cornerstone version available, I used to get prompted to upgrade to the latest version in my wp-admin panel – but I can’t find any way to update my Cornerstone plugin now.
Can you please tell me how to do that?
2. My X theme registration number IS properly connected to my X theme account, so I don’t know why I’m not getting prompted for the Cornerstone updates?
I see that now there’s a classification of Production with my License registration. Should that be set to Development? I don’t recall having to choose one or the other of these options in the past.3. Can you please explain what you mean by ‘connect to FTP and add the following code in wp-config.php file”?
what is FTP?
And where is my wp-config.php file?Is that on my hosting server (Siteground) website and c-panel
Or is it in my wp-admin somewhere? (again, Greek 🙂 )Thank you for clarifying! I’m a bit of a newb in the wordpress development and programming arena!
(I DO know how to clear my cache using SG Cache (my hosting server is Siteground and they have their own cache clearing plugin). Yay! At least I know how to do ONE of the steps you recommended. lol
Thank you for you help! It’s greatly appreciated!!

RupokMemberHi Leanne,
Thanks for writing back.
#1 & #2. Your site is validated properly with purchase key and automatic updates are active. So all you need to click update from WordPress Dashboard. You can also check updates from Dashboard > Updates – http://prntscr.com/c0hzlq
Your Cornerstone is updated but you are using older version of X that needs to be updated.
#3. wp-config.php file is the most basic and important file of WordPress setup. When you are using WordPress to build a site; you should know about this file at least. You will find it within the WordPress setup root. Some search on the internet will lead you to many basic tutorial about this.
Since you seems new to WordPress; I’d suggest you to head over to our Knowledge Base and watch some tutorial from “WordPress Training” before getting started. You can use X without programming knowledge but you need some basic understanding of WordPress when you are using this to build site.
Hope this makes sense.

leannevenierParticipantOk, I did all of your recommendations and the problem is still the same.
Still getting the script errors and Cornerstone drag and drop is still not working at all on any of my Cornerstone pages.
I added the code you suggsted (had my Siteground tech support person do it for me so it would be done properly), cleared the cache and updated x-theme.
But there’s no change whatsoever.
Would you mind looking at this page from within the wp-admin using the Cornerstone editor so you can see what I’m seeing?
http://CatalyticColor.com/Creative-flow-programs
(but please don’t save the page in case anything gets messed up on that page during the troubleshooting 🙂 — even if you click on different cornerstone elements on the screen on this page, they’ll often shoot up the page and then you can’t get them to go back to where they were. And adding new elements is impossible. It’s impossible to add a new element and then place it where you want it to go. Editing existing text is the only thing I can do, but I have to add a button that got messed up during one of my last attempt to fix the page.
Even deleting existing elements is impossible in Cornerstone
Thank you.
I really have to make some urgent changes to this page, and I cant’ do anything on it without Cornerstone functionality being restored.
Again, this page worked just fine until the last 2 Cornerstone updates. Since then the problem with the script and the elements jumping all over the page has occurred as well as the inability to add new elements and inability to delete existing elements.
Thank you for your help!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for updating. So you are still facing trouble using the drag and drop feature in Cornerstone? I have tried creating a new page (see “Cornerstone Draft”) and Cornerstone seems working fine as expected. I faced no issue on drag and drop. So I am not sure about what you are facing.
Also it seems you are using multiple security plugin and caching plugin that might also create conflicts and block script based on security preference you are using with the plugin(s). Note that live editor runs few script on the fly that might be blocked by such security plugin. Also there is no point of using multiple of them I believe and it will just overload your site’s performance. You can consult with a professional about that for help.
If you still have any question; kindly summarize the actual question that you are facing to avoid confusion.
Have a nice day!

leannevenierParticipantHi there,
I outlined the exact problem above in case you missed it buried in the paragraph:
– If you click on different cornerstone elements on the screen on this page (http://CatalyticColor.com/Creative-Flow-programs), the cornerstone elements will often shoot up the page and then you can’t get them to go back to where they were.
– If you click on any cornerstone element in the page and drag them even slightly, they will ALWAYS shoot up the page
– And adding new elements is impossible. It’s impossible to add a new element and then place it where you want it to go. Editing existing text is the only thing I can do, but I have to add a button that got messed up during one of my last attempt to fix the page.
– Even deleting existing elements is impossible in Cornerstone.but I have a much faster way you can see the exact problem:
Can you please login to my wp-admin (login info is in one of the above messages) and go into Cornerstone editing mode on THIS page so you can understand what I’m dealing with:
http://CatalyticColor.com/Creative-flow-programs
You’ll not only see how slowly the page loads with the script error message at the top of the page …… you can also test the drag and drop features to see what I’m talking about but just PLEASE DON’T SAVE the page once you’re done testing it – just close the browser window so your changes are not saved.
I think once you do that you’ll see all the problems I’m having with Cornerstone and be better able to figure out where the conflict is.
I’ve been using the same security plugins and caching plugins since well before this problem started in Cornerstone.Again, this problem started IMMEDIATELY after I updated Cornerstone 2 updates ago.
So it’s something in Cornerstone that was changed 2 versions ago that started causing the script conflicts.Thank you for helping to figure out the problem! I’m sure once you go into the actual existing Cornerstone pages (see link above) you’ll be able to debug it immediately.
Thank you!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for updating. It’s really hard the understand the original issue when you write too long story. We kindly request you to briefly summarize the original problem so that we can understand it better and assist you quickly. However if I understand you right; you are facing this only on this page – http://CatalyticColor.com/Creative-flow-programs
It seems you have lot of Text Element and you are using HTML inside them. So there is a pretty chance of having broken HTML or illegal character inside one of the element that’s causing this and I can see the error as well – http://prntscr.com/c0yacb
In that case you need to go through all of them and check the text/HTML. Since it’s not happening on any other pages; Cornerstone working as expected.
However if you can’t figure out where the broken code is or you need to fix this ASAP; you can just switch to Skeleton mode (http://prntscr.com/c0ya71) and do the drag and drop.
Hope this makes sense.
August 5, 2016 at 1:57 pm #1119244
leannevenierParticipantOk, thank you for your reply. I’ll test out Skeleton mode to see if I can use that for a quick fix.
I’ll have to look into the html issue you stated. I don’t actually know what that means (that I’m using text/HTML – I thought I was just using TEXT.
Can you tell me what I should be looking for in terms of broken code or illegal characters?
Does broken code mean something like “” doesn’t have a matching “” or something like that?
Is there an easy way I can search for broken code in the text boxes?
I’ve been using the Cornerstone text boxes, just for adding text, so I didn’t realize I was typing in html (Im actually not clear on what html means compared to regular text characters unless it’s the types of commands like strong /strong etc).
The CORNERSTONE TEXT Elements allow you to type in two formats – either VISUAL or TEXT (and when you use VISUAL, the TEXT version adds in a bunch of code to create BOLD characters, colored characters etc.
Are THOSE additional characters the HTML you’re referring to?
Sorry for all the questions. 🙂
Again, I’m not a developer – I bought X theme since it’s marketed for people who aren’t programmers, so I just use the text elements either by writing directly into them or by copy/pasting from other WordPress pages (not in Cornerstone).
Is that the problem? That I copy pasted some of the text from another page on my wordpress website (sometimes I copy/paste from a word document, too)
Well, if you can give me a clue about what to look for in terms of broken HTML code or illegal HTML characters, that would be very helpful!
I tried googling it to figure out what you were talking about but there was no relevant search information to answer the question about searching for illegal characters or broken HTML code that applied in my case.
Thank you for any help you can provide! Hopefully this email is clearer and easier to understand. 🙂

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
I am another staff checking on this thread! I have investigated each and every line of code in your page and I found out that you have inserted an invalid feature box title. The title is already enclosed with <h4> but then you inserted an <h3>. Please edit your page and use this format instead:
<span style="color: #0002c0; text-align: center"><strong>What is Flow State?</strong></span>You can even add a font-size: ##px if you need to. And I also found another invalid html code:
<strong><span style="color: #ffffff;">"Here is what I experience by ‘getting into the flow’ daily by practicing the techniques that Leanne teaches ... It’s like I walk into a new, ever-expanding exploratorium of ideas in my mind.</strong>You have an unclosed span tag. You should have something like this instead:
<strong><span style="color: #ffffff;">"Here is what I experience by ‘getting into the flow’ daily by practicing the techniques that Leanne teaches ... It’s like I walk into a new, ever-expanding exploratorium of ideas in my mind.</span></strong>And the same thing happened here:
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ffffff;">Suddenly I started realizing life is a lot bigger and wider in its influence (and vice versa) as I found this new way to tap into my subconscious thinking.Which should be this:
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ffffff;">Suddenly I started realizing life is a lot bigger and wider in its influence (and vice versa) as I found this new way to tap into my subconscious thinking.</span></p>And another case here:
<p style="text-align: center;"></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ffffff;"><strong>"I'm certain it was the color work we did in your Creative Flow workshop that inspired a flood of new ideas for my script… within just a few hours after the workshop!" </span></strong></p>Most of the html code you have added on the page seems to be incorrect. You must properly close each of the tag you have added. And also that each of the element has a valid format and correct nesting. Having this code for example is invalid:
<h5><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #1abc9c;">Jolyn Janis, Actress (HBO's 'The Leftovers') | Filmmaker | Art Director | Creative Flow Graduate</span></p></h5></strong>The code is invalid because you are not supposed to use p tag inside a heading tag. The format should only be like this:
<h5>Your heading</h5> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Integer scelerisque eros eu pulvinar dictum. Nunc egestas massa at elit bibendum, cursus fringilla nunc faucibus. Proin dignissim efficitur nunc a cursus.</p>Due to massive html errors, Cornerstone is having a difficulty in displaying the page. Please take note that Cornerstone is a front end builder and any invalid html code you may add could messed up the page layout and even result a failure for Cornerstone to load the page.
Hope this make sense.

leannevenierParticipantOMG – thank you SOOOOOOOO much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😀
You’re awesome!!!!!!!!!! This is exactly what I needed!
Thank you for not only outlining each of my mistakes, but for also clearly providing the exact code to fix the problems!
Apparently by my several botched attempts to make the headers do what I wanted them to do with various colors and sizes, you can totally tell I am NOT a programmer! lol
Thank you for locating each and every one of my “coding bloopers”! 🙂
I’m going to take some time to go through and correct all of the issues you’ve pointed out and I’m sure my page and Cornerstone will start playing nice again.
Thank you so much again for your invaluable help with this and for stepping in to this thread!
You are am-AAAA-zing!!!
May the Computer Gods, the Web Dev Gods and the all-seeing Internet Gods shower you with limitless and bountiful gifts!! … of your choosing since I don’t know what your preferences would be – lol
Thank you again!!!

ChristianModeratorYou’re welcome, Leanne. Glad we could help. 🙂
August 15, 2016 at 6:14 pm #1132624
leannevenierParticipantHi again Christian!
I’m baaacckkk!
Ok, so I integrated ALL of your suggestions (spent hours going over the entire page http://CatalyticColor.com/creative-flow-programs getting rid of the code that you said was conflicting from the various Cornerstone elements as well as looking for broken code (unmatched open/close code) ) and it STILL didn’t fix the page – Cornerstone still isn’t working and I”m still getting a script conflicts message when that page loads.
But not only that, my other page that I built with Cornerstone (ie that was a previously existing Cornerstone page before the Cornerstone updates a few months ago) no longer works either (both of these pages – the home page and the programs page – were created before the Cornerstone updates and they both worked just fine prior to those last 2 updates).
On my HOMEPAGE http://CatalyticColor.com – which was also built in Cornerstone AGES ago (with no modifications to the elements since then) and where I don’t get the script errors message, I ALSO can’t edit in Cornerstone (ie. same thing happens with the elements flying all over the page any time I try to add any element or drag any element on the page).
On that home page, I didn’t have ANY of the header or page formatting additions like I did on the other page (that you thought was causing the script conflicts in that other creative-flow-programs page that’s all wonky and unusable in Cornerstone.)
So I think the problem is rooted in something else and it ties in directly with whatever was changed in Cornerstone two updates ago.Again, I mentioned a few times before, that both of these pages worked perfectly fine whenever I needed to do any Cornerstone elements editing (ie With ALL of the existing code, even before removing those script thingies you told me to remove), but they went all wonky IMMEDIATELY after updating Cornerstone.
That was without adding ANY new content to the page (and I haven’t been able to add any new elements to either of these pages since that 1st Cornerstone update a few months ago (when LOTS Of people on the forum were reporting that they wer.
So PRIOR to the Cornerstone updates (2 updates ago) both of these pages were working just fine in Cornerstone (in fact, after the FIRST cornerstone update a few months ago, I immediately could no longer edit my Creative-Flow-progrmas page so I had to revert my site back to the backup copy that my hosting provider backs up every night. I reverted to the previous version of my site that was running the earlier version of Cornerstone and Cornerstone IMMEDIATELY started working on those pages again.. I had to revert my site back to the pre-cornerstone update version just so I could make some edits to my page. I added in several new elements to the page at that time and they were all working just fine with the old version running.
And I kept that older version of Cornerstone until the SECOND update of Cornerstone came out – at which point, Cornerstone immediately went all wonky again.
So, again, the fixes you suggested still aren’t making any of my previously existing Cornerstone pages editable (but your’e right in that if I create NEW pages in Cornertsone after the update, the NEW pages work fine.
But I REALLY REALLY Need to be able to edit and add new elements to my existing Cornerstone pages (CAtalyticcolor.com and catalyticcolor.com/creative-flow-programs since these 2 pages are the foundation of my entire site).
Can you please take a look again and see if you can figure out the root of the problem. I think it’ll be much easier for you to troubleshoot on this page:
http://CatalyticColor.com
since the issue is the same as on the creative-flow-programs page, but I haven’t modified any of the header or Feature Headline elements on this home page at all and it’s a much shorter page for content so there are a lot fewer elements and less text altogether so less room for coding error.Thank you for any help you can provide, Christian!!
Best,
Leanne
