I just want to make sure that nothing has been updated since this 2014 thread?

It appears that comments on blog posts will disappear once the comment period has closed. X Theme’s blogs are PRESET to not display comments if for any reason the user closes the ability to comment on that post or checks the box to automatically close them after a given time has passed.
I’ve been chasing the mysterious non-appearance of comments on my blog posts for days. It never occurred to me that closing the comment period would prevent all existing comments from the post from even displaying. So before I go customize this am I missing something obvious?

That is how it works by default and it is still the same. Although we’ve already added a feature request to find a way to present options so comments can be “Closed and hidden” or “Closed and show existing”. We will let you know once we have an update to this feature request. For now, if you want to show it, suggestion on the thread still applies. Hope this helps.
