    Hi,

I was getting all kinds of weird page reloads and errors on my site on a page using the column “fade-effect” when viewing on my iPad. I thought maybe it was because I was serving http/2. Nope.

I updated from ios 9.6.4 to 10.0.2 – still doesn’t work. Also happens on iPad when I use Firefox or Chrome, so it is browser independent. Happens on both iPad Air and iPad Pro Air.

I eliminated my site altogether by viewing the ethos-2 demo and seeing that it also exhibits problems when it tries to do an effect.

Thanks for in advance for looking into this,
    Gregory Byrd

    Hi there,

That’s okay, we love problem solving πŸ˜‰

Though, if it’s okay, would you mind providing video recording about these issues for both Mac and iOS? I checked on my Mac and I can’t see any issue or maybe I’m just overlooking it. What’s your chrome version?

I recently upgraded to latest versions too and the issue I’m getting is pinkish color in terms of modal window and transparency. It might be related or not. I’ll keep on checking.

    Thanks!

Oh, one other oddity – on ios the “Brave” browser displays the Ethos-2 demo fine!

Safari, Chrome and Firefox on the other hand all choke on it.

    Hi there,

Thanks, I see. But I can’t replicate that issue on my end (iPad Air, iOS 10) with http://demo.theme.co/ethos-2/. It loads okay with no glitch or reloads.

But somehow on your site, what I’m getting is 500 Server Internal Error. Are you currently working on your site? I’ll check again later. In a desktop, accessing your site causes the infinite loop and it crashes, it could be related to domain redirects since the site is not even loading.

    Thanks!

My bad – I tested the site in http: mode to see if it made a difference – when I went back to https: mode it left some images unobtainable. My site is back to normal (barring the problem we are talking about).

I am surprised that you cannot replicate the issue on http://demo.theme.co/ethos-2 with ios. I do find on my site that the problem may not exhibit itself if I scroll down rapidly and back up before the images can be fetched.

I wonder if other people can see this problem? How about anyone viewing this with an iPad or iPhone view http://demo.theme.co/ethos-2 and/or my site https://www.emmefactor.com/clients/ (only the clients page is accessible).

What I see are continual reloads followed by giving up. Slowly scrolling the screen to make it fetch more images and then scrolling back up always triggers it.

What I am seeing is something like the video here: https://spideroak.com/share/INXW4YLUNFXW4/Ethos-2/Users/gregory/SpiderOak%20Hive/Ethos-2/Ethos-2.mp4

    Thanks,
    Gregory

Also, I believe that the “Brave” browser on ios uses the older UIWebView browser package, which is why it works. The other browsers I have tried which fail to load the page are all based on the newer WKWebView package.

    Sometimes older is better!

    Hi there Gregory,

Thanks for sending through the video. That is definitely an odd issue!

I’ve checked using my iPhone and iPad and was also unable to replicate. Can you post the Safari version being used on the iOS devices please? πŸ™‚

    Thanks!
