    Hi,

    I am in the process of building my website, and am new to building. If I download and activate the x theme child theme do I essentially have to start all over and make all the changes in the child theme that I have made thus far in the regular theme? Or is there a way to transfer the changes I have already made to the child theme? Also, if I do activate the child theme, will I never be able to update the theme?

    You can still safely update the theme when you activated the child theme.
