Paul HParticipantHi
This question has been asked many times before, although I can’t seem to get the exact answers I am looking for.
Stupidly, I never installed a child theme for my site – https://guitartheoryandtechniquebook.com. I now want to make changes to the portfolio template file and other edits (which I don’t really understand fully yet!), so really need to have my site using a child theme.
I am thinking that I need to export Customizer settings then import once the child theme is installed. I have added CSS in the “edit global css” section of the Customizer. Is this backed up in the Customizer export or do I need to copy and paste once the child theme is installed? Also, is custom CSS and custom js added in Cornerstone safe?
I haven’t manually altered any files and uploaded via ftp. Are these the only edits that would be lost if I had done them?
Any other precautions to take?
I just want to be absolutely sure so that I don’t have an unexpected and time consuming problem to sort as often happens with this type of thing.
Thanks

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in! If you install Child Theme now, nothing will be changed. Your Customizer settings, Custom CSS and JS all will be in same place. Still it’s good to take a backup always and you can backup Customizer settings from X Addons menu.
Cheers!
