dudedude12ParticipantHi
If i am using x theme do i need a child theme if i use custom css in the cornerstone editor or is it only needed if i make changes to the actual php files? Or is that doing the same thing?
Thanks Gary

DarshanaModeratorHi Gary,
Thanks for writing in! Basically you will need a child theme setup, if you’re planning to change templates and to add your own customizations. So that those changes will remain in the child theme, when you’re updating the original X theme.
If you just want to use Customizer’s Custom CSS or JavaScript, you can ignore child theme setup.
Hope that’s clear.

dudedude12ParticipantHi
Thanks for your reply, so basically if I’m only changing stuff in cornerstone including custom css in the cornerstone css settings tab I wont need a child theme?
Thanks Gary

RahulModeratorHey There,
Thanks for writing back!
Yes, you will not need a Child Theme setup to play around with the Cornerstone. If you want to make more customizations with your theme and its functionality, it’s better to setup a Child theme so that you can add more customizations easily.
Hope this helps!
