Steve CParticipantI am working on a site for a client http://www.epsilontranslations.com and the child theme css is being ignored. I have added !important after the edits to ensure that they override correctly, but with no luck.
I have also tested the css in customizer instead and it works fine, although that is not the best way for me to add custom css to the site / child theme.
Please could you tell me why this is not working.
I’ll be happy to provide more info if you need it.
Thanks,

JoaoModeratorHi There,
It does work.
You have the code :
.x-topbar, .x-colophon.bottom {
background-color: #e5e4dc !important;
}And it is working.
Let us know if you have further questions,
Cheers

Steve CParticipantI’m afraid that it’s not working at all my end. I’ve been writing my css in customizer rather than using a child theme which is why it was displaying correctly.
As soon as I remove it from customizer (Additional CSS) it no longer calls the style.css from the childtheme – even though I have moved all the css to the stylesheet ‘style.css in the child theme.
As far as I can tell there are no caching plugins installed and I have tried deleting both my browser and dns cache without any change to the site.
Please could you check again and let me know what to do to get it working.

JoaoModeratorI am getting
“ERROR: Your answer was incorrect – please try again.”
But there is no question or anything on the wp-admin login, would you mind turning off your security plugin that generates that in order that we can login?
If you dont have anything like that, please confirm your WP admin credentials above are correct.
Cheers

Steve CParticipantThere is a third box under the logins to enter an answer to a maths question. It’s like a captcha, you just need to get the answer correct.
I’ve tried it and I can login without any issues.January 6, 2017 at 11:16 pm #1319794

Steve CParticipantThanks for your patience with this. When I checked this morning it seems to have corrected itself, but as soon as I try to make any edits it simply won’t update the styles??
I am editing the file here: /public_html/wp-content/themes/x-child/style.css.
The strange thing is that even if I delete the file it still loads correctly?— I’ve managed to get the site to show the updates I did once this morning and now nothing is updating as it should anymore.
Do you have any idea what could be causing this? Is there a way to check whether the hosting is caching the site?
January 9, 2017 at 7:28 am #1322310
Steve CParticipantI have just figured out what was causing the issue. There was some caching enabled within the hosting control panel which I have now disabled and it seems to be working better.

ChristianModeratorThe only way to know that is to contact your hosting provider if they have internal or server level caching.
Thanks.
