Andrew FParticipanthi – like probably a lot of newbies . . . i was working on x without setting up a child theme .
My home page looks fine – and i set up woocommerce –however im trying to create categories and modify the look of the shop page – and im getting no where.
the categoreies i am creating – are not showing up on the shop – and now from reading i understand better to set up the child theme –and i did – but now everything is different on the child theme –
images are not the same size – menus are different –so i exported the xcs from the x theme and imported to child theme – but everything is still the same.
am i missing something? – do i really need to work in child? – how can i set up categories in my shop that will be visible?
many thanks

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks for writing in.
You need to re-setup your menu and widgets, and another setting when you switch theme, even if it’s a child theme. WordPress do that and something we can’t control.
Child theme is recommended when doing customization, or else, any update will overwrite them.
Please provide some screenshots comparing the difference, maybe I could provide some recommendation.
Thanks!

Andrew FParticipantsuper thanks – i see – in fact it clearly looks like the menus are messed up and images are orignnal size – not resized to fit in the contianers – (i think) here are some scereen shots first of how it was and after how it is now – you will see the difference – thanks – Andrew

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
Please activate parent theme and export customizer settings. Next activate child theme and import customizer settings.
Please provide us with website URL.
Thanks.

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
I’m sorry you’re experiencing this after the update. What you’re seeing is a result of the X CSS path structure being changed back in version 4.3.3. You can fix this by using the updated child theme format that isn’t stack specific. Or you can update the path in
style.cssof your child theme. For more information on this process, take a look at the 4.3.3 release notes: http://theme.co/changelog/#theme-4-3-3Hope it helps.

Andrew FParticipantSUCCEESSSSSSSSS YYYIIPPPIIIIIIEEEEEE ::::]]]
im a genius hahahahahahahahahahahahah – what a joke:]
jokes apart…..please tell anyone with this problem. . . .
its a very easy fix…..go to FTP – Cpanel – get to wp-content then themes then click on the child theme folder ( on the left )
this will reveal the contents – and edit the style.csssimply copy this code below –
@import url( ‘../x/framework/css/dist/site/stacks/ethos.css’ );
paste it underneath the existing line which starts with @import ( they look very similar )
then just replace ‘ethos.css’ – with the one you have in the orignal line – and delete the bad line above –save – job done –
