    I downloaded and saved the child theme zip file, but when I went to wordpress to install it, I received this error: Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

    Plugin install failed.

    So I tried to manually install it through ftp to the directory:/public_html/wp/wp-content/themes/x-child

    Is this the correct place? I yried inserting some custom .php into the functions file and I’m not seeing it work. I’m so confused.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in! You need to unzip the child theme folder and upload it into your Themes folder within your WordPress installation. For example (“/wp-content/themes/x-child”).

    Once you upload it correctly, you should be able to activate your child theme through Appearance -> Themes section within your WordPress back-end.

    You should activate your child theme before testing it.

    Hope that’s clear.
