As you may already know, we usually do not provide support for custom development. However to get started, you will need setup a child theme first. Please refer to our child theme setup guide here (https://community.theme.co/kb/how-to-setup-child-themes/).

Then also check our customization best practices guide here (https://community.theme.co/kb/customization-best-practices/) to get an idea of how to override a template functionality.

Then you should be able to follow the above thread.

Okay I read all the articles and info and definitely have a better grasp on what I need to do, however what code do i need to past in the index.php file after I duplicate it? Still fairly lost on the process that I need to follow.

This particular customization falls outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.
