I am trying to add specific categorized news to some pages of the site I’m designing – I’d like the news to match the design of the catch-all blog page. Is that possible? With the Visual Composer, it looks very different… I also tried your shortcode for recent posts and that is also very different. I’d like the quotes to be readable like they are in the blog. Let me know if you can help 🙂

I’ve attached a screen grab of my news (blog) page that I am trying to replicate the style of within my site, in case I’m not being clear through my words.

You can add this under Custom > CSS in the Customizer.

Hi,

I’m not sure how that is supposed to work. Is this supposed to format quote posts when I use recent posts? My hope is to format categorized news the same way that it is formatted on the main news page. So, for example: I would like to add a “features” to the ABOUT page below the biography. Right now, they are on the side since my deadline for the draft was today and I couldn’t get them to format the same way. Is there a way? Can you let me know about the CSS you’ve given me. Thanks! Sorry for the confusion.

Just in case this is clearer: I’m basically looking to have a category page but within a page. I want to add other elements to the page, so I can’t just use category pages for each of these things, ie. for the ABOUT page, I will have the bio THEN I will have the feature category listed. Hope that’s clearer. Thanks again for your help!

Hi EB,

If we’re going to use page to display this, we can use recent post element. Create the page as you like and then add recent post element filtered by category. The downside for this is this will not have the normal pagination and maximum number is 4. You need to use offset property to display more than that. Other option is to use the default category pages, then we can add other content using child theme. The downside on this part is we can’t use editor like Cornerstone for the added content and this will be pure HTML/shortcodes and CSS to achieve the desired look. Do let us know how you want to proceed.
