Fran MParticipantI’m running WP4.5.2 and X4.4.2. On my plugins page, I can only see 4 of the 25 active plugins I have installed. I got some help from GoDaddy and identified that when the X theme is replaced with another theme, all the plugins appear. So it seems to be something to do with X.

RadModeratorHi there,
I just checked and all 25 active plugins are viewable there, and X theme is enabled. It could be your GoDaddy’ caching.
Switching theme could clear or generate new caches since they are a different set of files, that explains why it works when switching theme.
Thanks!

Fran MParticipantI just deleted x and reinstalled it. That seems to have solved the problem.

Fran MParticipantWell, it may have solved that problem, but it caused other problems. I had to revert my site and database back to yesterday’s backup. I just spent a couple hours on the phone with GoDaddy and they said I need help from my theme provider. I will try to explain the issues.
The first thing I did today was to create a staging site for my website in GoDaddy so I could make my changes there rather than in my production website. It seemed to work. I updated some plugins there. Then I tried to edit my home page.
My home page hadn’t been updated since before Cornerstone came out, so updating it meant recreating it. While trying to do that, I found that I couldn’t delete anything on the page. I couldn’t delete an image, or a row or a section…nothing. So I read what the forum had to say about that problem and saw that one of the recommendations was to reinstall x. I couldn’t figure out how to reinstall x on my staging site. So I did it on my production site following the instructions in the knowledgebase for manual update. That seemed to work. And that’s when I was finally able to see the full list of all my plugins. So I went ahead and updated my out of date plugins while I was at it. In production.
Then, in GoDaddy, I attempted to push my production site to my staging site so I could try editing that home page again. It wouldn’t push it out properly. After attempting it, when I tried accessing the staging site from GoDaddy, I just got a bunch of plain text on the screen that looked like x code. It wouldn’t open the site in wp-admin. So I called GoDaddy. They couldn’t solve it either. My staging site was completely trashed. They said there’s something about the theme that is preventing it from propagating properly from production to staging.
It’s possible that I have messed something up in attempting to manually update x. I’m not sure. Whatever the case, after restoring to yesterday’s backup, I’m back to the same place I was before I started today: I can’t see my full list of plugins. I know most of them are out of date, but I can’t update them since I can’t see them. I suspect there’s something wrong with my installation of x and Cornerstone. And I don’t know how to fix it.

RadModeratorHi there,
Hmmm, plugin listing isn’t connected to the theme, it’s part of WordPress’ core. And it shouldn’t even affect by updates since it’s done per plugin or theme.
Would you mind providing your staging site’s login credentials, and let me know if it’s okay to update it.
Thanks!

Fran MParticipantI have switched to X on my staging site. I was able to see all the plugins there and have activated them. Something is still very wrong though as you will immediately see when you login. On the forums I’ve read something about how to handle updates when working with a staging site. I wasn’t able to figure out how to do it though. That’s probably part of the problem. I’d welcome any advice. I want to be sure I can make updates on my staging site and successfully push them to my production site.

ChristianModeratorHey Fran,
The issue was caused by an old version of Cornerstone which is not compatible with the latest version of X. I uninstalled Cornerstone and all your plugins showed up. X reinstalled the latest version and I activated it. It doesn’t affect the plugins anymore.
Hope that helps. 🙂

Fran MParticipantThanks for that. My staging site is still trashed. I’m not sure how to correct that. I want to be sure I can make updates on my staging site and successfully push them to my production site.

ChristianModeratorPlease give us FTP access to your Staging site. But, if you could push or copy your live site to your staging, that would be great since it is already fixed.
Thanks.
