cgenselParticipantHello,
I am at the beginning stages of working with X and I’m running into some issues with the Customizer. I’m using the basic Integrity stack (I had started with a full demo but went back to Integrity and deleted the demo content). When I go into Customizer I have no trouble changing the navbar position or the logo’s specifications. However, when I try to edit anything under navbar links I cannot make any changes- including Navbar Font, Navbar Links color, Navbar Hover color, Font size, Font weight, letterspacing, uppercase on/off, and link alignment and spacing. Is this a property of Integrity or is something wrong? This seems like very basic things that should be customizable so feel like I’m missing something.
I’m definitely not a developer or power user so if the solution involves cache clearing or tinkering in the code please be very detailed on the steps to take to fix the problem π
Thanks for the great support,
-K

JoaoModeratorHi There,
You are using Ubermenu
You can either deactivate Ubermenu Plugin and use the standard X Menu
Or you need to go to Appereance > Customizer > Ubermenu to make the necessary changes.
I also recommend you turning off the Navbar Search at Appereance > Customizer > Header
You can find more information about Ubermenu at this link in case you decide to use it.
Hope that helps,
Joao

cgenselParticipantHi Joao,
Knew I was missing something obvious. So basically if Ubermenu is installed it overrides the regular menu when you’re in customizer?
Also, why do you recommend turning off the navbar search? Is there an alternative searchbar/option that you advise using instead?
Thank you for the help!

JoaoModeratorHi There,
Yes you are correct they are affect by different CSS paths. You Have the Ubermenu Settings on Customizer Also but it is on Customizer > UberMenu
You can see the Navbar search is not aligned at all with your Ubermenu, that is because it is attached to the Normal Menu, so I reccomend turning it off on Customizer > Header.
To use UberMenu navbar Search please follow this link:
Hope that helps,

cgenselParticipantHello,
I have a question related to the advice about UberMenu. It appears that to add a searchbar to Ubermenu you need to insert a shortcode under ubermenu’s custom item. Is this something that means I would need to use a child theme to protect from theme updates or is it sufficiently “built in” to the plugin/theme combo that it would be OK without a child theme? I don’t plan to do any other significant customizations, if any, directly to the CSS or js on my site. I’m trying to keep it pretty simple for the sake of anyone else on my team who will be working with this site down the road.
Thanks,
K

JoaoModeratorHi There,
If you have not made changes to core files of the theme to insert the shortcode in header.php or style.css outside of worpdress admin panel you donΒ΄t need a child theme. Your changes will be safe when the theme gets update. Could you provide us more details information about what you have done so we can confirm everything os ok?
Thanks
Joao

cgenselParticipantHi,
I have not made any changes to core files- trying to avoid this. I have figured out the differences in editing the built in nav bar v ubermenu…I’m going to try going with ubermenu so I’ve inserted the shortcode to get the searchbar for Ubermenu to work. It seems to be OK- I haven’t gotten very far in working on the site overall so there’s not much to confirm π Thanks for the excellent help!
