Hi there,

I’m really new to all of this so I’m sorry if the answers are obvious and I’m just missing something. I’m not sure why cornerstone won’t work to modify the blog. I don’t even remember what theme I’m using or what versions…I think I’m using the ICON theme.

I’ve created most of the site the way I want it to look using Cornerstone, however, since for some reason cornerstone can’t be used to edit the blog the way I want it, I need some help. Right now it’s just a boring lists of posts, like I’ve shown in the screenshot below. I want to feature images above or on the side the posts exerpts, but not very large ones. I don’t want a full-width main blog screen, I want to have the posts in a window that scrolls over a stationary background image. I only want the background image to be seen on the left side of the screen, and then I want to keep the header on the top but I want a sidebar for people to subscribe and search. This is the closest thing I can find to what I want:

If you can imagine that but without the background image section in the middle–basically no separation between the sidebar and content. How do I change what I have to how I want it to look? I would like the featured image to appear automatically above each post title but I want to be able to change the size of the image so it’s not too huge. I also want the author to appear in the post meta.

Also, when I add categories for each post and I select a category, the post format changes to a masonry style. I want it to all be unison. I’d be fine with a masonry option for both of them if I could make it so there are only 2 columns in the middle with a wide gap on the sides for them to scroll against a background image.

Also, how do I add the subscribe feature to the sidebar?

I’m not tech savvy (obviously) so if you could explain it as if you were teaching a 5th grader I’d appreciate it 🙂 Thanks for your time!
