WordPress 4.5.3 and I just upgraded to Theme x 4.6.1. Cornerstone 1.3.0. The website is https://webimagedesigns.com

On the home page I have a slider Revolution slider below the masthead, which is working. But the background is black and not showing the video as it was previously. On the home page – edit area – I have the Optional Background Video set to https://vimeo.com/176173153 and it is no longer working. I have tried deactivating all of the plug-ins that I have added in the last few days, but nothing seems to make the video play. I am thinking this is related to the latest upgrade of theme x to 4.6.1. Can you please assist me in getting to the bottom of this

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in.

There are 11 errors originating from cached/minified files. I can’t find anything from it since it’s cache which is probably serving the old files from your older version of X theme and cornerstone. That’s why we recommend clearing and disabling cache plugins during the update process, or after the process.

Would you mind providing your admin login credentials in private reply?

    Thanks!

After researching further I discovered that I needed a Vimeo Pro account, which will give a direct link to put in the optional background setting. This option is found under the Video File tab in the Vimeo Pro account. My website was cached and that I why I did not see the issue before and wrongly thought it was related to the theme x upgrade – sorry.

The free Vimeo account and Vimeo Plus will not work with the optional background setting You need the relatively expense Vimeo Pro account to be able to use the optional background video with Vimeo. Self-hosting the video is a workable option, but in most cases it slows the load time of your website, which is not good for SEO.

I could not get a smooth look trying to put the video directly in Slider Revolution – it flashed between black, the cover image, and the video – it was not good at all.

    Hello There,

Upon inspection, there is still a JS error on the page. It seems that jQuery is not being loaded on the page. You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Are you using CloudFlare or may have installed a caching plugin like WordFence, W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache? Please keep in mind that after doing every updates or making any changes, always remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest updates/changes is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

To be able to have a smooth looking background video, I think you might need to optimize your video background for best results. Perhaps these links could help:
