    Hi There,

Would you mind updating your x theme and cornerstone to the latest version.

Latest version can be found here: https://community.theme.co/kb/version-compatibility/

    For updating guide:

    Hope it helps.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks.

I don’t understand why your instructions are not working. I have done everything outlined in the above articles. I uploaded new files manually via FTP using the instructions in the Updating Guide. Still not seeing any changes… the background images are still not showing and I still cannot open Cornerstone. My PHP version is 5.6. It was just updated recently… Please advise. Dawn

    Hi There,

You did successfully updated your X and CS, but do you have some kind of internal caching? I see your site is still loading the older version of Cornerstone and that is looking for a important file in a wrong directory.

    screenshot

You can see on my screenshot that it is requesting a ?ver=1.2.4, but the installed CS on your site is already version 1.3.0.

You can contact your hosting support to confirm if your site has no internal caching feature.

Or did you completely delete the older Cornerstone, before you uploaded the newer one? Because if you do just the overwrite that wont work, because some of the new files are in different directory.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I have had my hosting company completely reboot my server to clear all caches. They do not have any internal caching feature on my server. It is a VPS server at KnownHost. I am still not seeing any background images and I still cannot open Cornerstone.

For the original updates, I went through the WordPress updates page.
For additional updates, I have used the following methods:
    1. Overwrote all theme files via FTP. At this point, I just overwrote the Cornerstone.zip file in the framework directory. I did not overwrite anything in the plugins directory.
    2. Followed the instructions given on 8/15, https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/ to update theme and Cornerstone.

I don’t understand how to fix this. Where can I make changes in the database? I definitely am not a database pro, but with enough instructions I have been able to make changes on occasion…

    Hi There,

The issue with overwriting is, it does only overwrite a file with same file name in the same directory. On previous update of Cornerstone and X there are files that move on different directory/sub-folder, that means the old files wont be overwritten.

Please connect to your server via FTP, navigate to this directory /wp-content/plugins/ look for the folder named cornerstone, completely delete that folder.

Get your cornerstone.zip file (you can download that here).

Extract that file on your local machine and you should get a new cornerstone folder.

Upload that extracted folder on this directory /wp-content/plugins/ via FTP.

Let us know how it goes.

P.S. You might want to do this method with the X|Theme as well. As you mentioned above you just Overwrote all theme files via FTP

    Cheers!

    Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! At this time we kindly ask that you open up in a separate thread along with your login credentials. The longer threads get in the forum, they become more difficult to support as they tend to drift off topic and they also make it troublesome for users trying to search for solutions. Keeping threads relevant to their original inquiry ensures that we can keep better track of what has been resolved and that users can more effectively find answers to similar issues they might be experiencing.

    Thanks!

I have deactivated Cornerstone. I have completely deleted both X theme and Cornerstone via FTP. I have uploaded completely new files for both, X theme first, then Cornerstone, to make sure they were loaded in the correct order. Was not working so I deleted all files again and uploaded the theme files via WordPress, then uploaded Cornerstone again via FTP.

Still no background images. Still no working version of Cornerstone. Guess I’ll need to rebuild the site since nothing else is working. Very disappointing. Luckily it’s a small site and I can export the Customizer settings.

Is it possible there is a conflict between the latest release of WordPress and X theme since it’s the WordPress background that is not working after updating?

I rolled the site back to the version before the updates started. Will try updating it again later when I have more time to play with it.

Thanks for all of your support while trying to figure it out. I will be careful on the order of updates going forward.
