Hi…I have 4.4.1 loaded on my site (a multisite). Addons recognises that 4.5.2 is now available, but when I check for updates it says nothing is available. I don’t want to do a manual update as temporarily switching to another theme means I have to re-edit alot of my custom CSS due to the names of widgets changing.

Please advise how I can get the update?…is the problem due to using a multisite?

    Many thanks,

    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for writing in! How do you have X installed? On the multisite admin or the site individually? You may need to update using the main multisite page or vice versa if you hadn’t checked both.

I would make sure you have a backup of your entire site before testing out doing a manual update. However, I believe you can just overwrite files via FTP without having to switch out of X onto another theme.

Let us know how that goes. Hope this helps – thanks!

Thanks John….you can only install themes at the multisite level and then network activate them to make them available to individual sites. You can only check for updates at the multisite level.

Sounds like this is a bug then?

Have completed upgrade/overwrite via ftp…seems to have been successful.

    Many thanks,

    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

Glad you sorted things out, but did you try to revoke and re-validate the site after your 4.4.1 update? I’ve seen some client site having this issue that they can’t update, not after they re-validate their site.

    Thanks.

This isn’t entirely true. Sub-sites in a network can have their own themes and plugins, but they will need to installed manually via FTP. You won’t be able to use the dashboard to add themes/plugins manually. Once uploaded there will be an option to deactivate/delete. This is good for themes/plugins you want on some sites in the network to have but make available for all.

    Hi @ehsd

I have already forwarded this to our developer to check this further. Since it’s a technical issue regarding multisite, there might be some difficulty but let’s see what we could do about this.

    Cheers!
