BMCParticipantHi,
Is there a way to assign a sidebar to either all posts or all posts within a certain category? Adding a sidebar to each post one at a time is not a practical solution and we’d like to have an alternative way to achieve this. From what I’ve read on these support forums, this may be possible, but I haven’t found anything that works with the latest version of X.
We want the sidebar on the blog homepage to be different than the sidebar used for posts.
Thanks.

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in! You can assign a sidebar to all page, posts and categories from Appearance > Sidebars – http://prntscr.com/bgk7if
Let us know if you have any other concern.
Cheers!

BMCParticipantHi,
Thanks for your reply, but I am aware of this. I don’t want to have to select a sidebar manually for every post we make. Is there a way to have a specific sidebar automatically show up for all posts in the news category, and another for all posts in the articles category, etc? Or is there some code we can use to achieve this? The way it is set up now is very inefficient.
We want all new posts to at least have a default sidebar without having to go in and select one. If a post is within a certain category, then if a sidebar is assigned to that specific category, it would overrule the default sidebar. This is how we expected the sidebar functionality to work. Can we achieve this?
Thank you.

Nabeel AModeratorHi again,
Thanks for writing in! Regretfully this isn’t a feature offered by X. It could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.
Thanks for understanding. Take care!

BMCParticipantIs there at least a way to show a default sidebar if none is selected for a page or post that is using a sidebar template? Right now I have several blank sidebars and it would be nice to show a default one in those cases. Thanks again.

FriechModeratorHey There,
Navigate to Appearance > Sidebars, create your sidebar and assign it to your prefer taxonomies (category).
Further customizations from here would be getting into custom development, which is outside the scope of support we can offer. If you need more in depth changes, you may wish to consult with a developer. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.
Thanks for understanding.

BMCParticipantHi,
I have done this, but the sidebar still doesn’t show up on any blog posts. Is there a way I can assign a sidebar to show up when none is selected? Right now there are several pages with blank sidebars. If it’s not already a feature, a default sidebar option would be very useful. If there’s a way to hard code this in the meantime, I’d appreciate any ideas as I’m not familiar with the X theme backend functions enough to write it myself.
Thanks again.

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for updating. Main Sidebar should be used as default sidebar if you don’t assign custom sidebar. So let’s place some widgets within Main Sidebar to check.
Cheers!
