slider revolution [buggy/not working properly]: 5.2.4.1

please message me privately so i can provide login data for my backend and webspace as required…!

    hello, there!

i ran into trouble upon updating to the version 4.5 of x. its installation routine ended up with a comment, that there was an error during the installation process. consequently the contents of my x-theme-folder within the theme-folder was erased leaving only three files in there… [just a few hours later i noticed there was a patched/hotfixed version 4.5.1 which i then didn’t have the courage to install, since i had done a complete backup…]. …but even the backup shows strange behaviour so i guess sth. must have been wrong with the code of the theme…

here’s the problem: when i look at my homepage from the backend editor all of my page’s elements are visible as i had layed them out quite a while ago… a skill bar [animated] and a similar animated graph list, as well as a button that linked to the now vanished subpage… when i look at my website from the front these elements are invisible [although they are visible in the backend editor].

plus: the subpage with a lot of my soundcloud embeds doesn’t show when selected in the menu; so the menu must be buggy in a way, because this subpage is clearly visible in the backend editor, but doesn’t show up when looked at from the frontend of my website.

i hope i explained my problem so you can help me troubleshooting this phenomenon…

    thank you very much!

    Hello There,

Thank you for posting and the very detailed information. I would recommend that you create a staging site. This is very useful because you can test drive any X updates in the staging area, do the customizations and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed the update in the live site.

To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

Please let us know how it goes.

    thanks for your reply!

if only i was a developper i’d follow your suggestion regarding child themes which is a good piece of advice since it’s not the first time that an update of x makes my website behave strangely. but creating a child theme at present stage would mean that the child theme inherits the flaws the parent theme already has got as a result of a dysfunctional update procedure.

i was hoping instead you could really help me substantially with the flaws i found and described in my previous post. as i mentioned, i am not a developper or professional web designer. so for you pros to take a look under the hood of my broken installation should be more failsafe than my trial-and-error-approaches – i really don’t want to damage my site any further… i hope my language doesn’t sound offending or awkward; i’m just trying to describe the phenomenons i ran into… thanks for your understanding!

please, have mercy! 😉 how can i regain my working pages, so all of their elements are shown as designed and all of the pages are properly linked and do show up when a link is clicked in the menu?

    your help is greatly appreciated!

    thanksalot in advance!

    kind regards!

    Hi There,

I am not sure what error you have encountered when updating your copy of X theme. Although you can try manual update. Please check this link for some guidance:https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/

Regarding Revolution slider I found the following error:

jquery.themepunch.revolution.min.js?ver=5.2.4.1:8 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'progress' of undefined
jquery.themepunch.revolution.min.js?ver=5.2.4.1:8 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'progress' of undefined

Please also try to update Revolution Slider. Latest Supported Version is 5.2.5.3

Note to save a backup of your site before updating. We can check your issue after the update since you went back to previous version.

    Always,
    X

i updated revslider, which now worked [unlike before] and the theme which crashed again via automatic installation routine, but i uploaded it the classical way.

contents is showing up now, subpages are accessible again, menus are valid and working…

but i have problems getting the button with the rounded edges on my homepage – just below the video containers – in the middle of the full span… it stays at the left margin… [cache is cleared every time i look at the changes i made to solve this issue]…

can you help me with a hint how i can get this button centered again?

    your help is greatly appreciated!

    much obliged!

    kind regards!

    Hi Werner,

I have checked your homepage but I am not sure which buttons you are trying to center. I could see one button that is correctly centered though. See screenshot below. Kindly point out which buttons you are trying to center so that we could check it. Thank you.

I troubleshooted everything on my own including the alignment of the button among other things that got all shook up by that ominous update.

Your assistance and support is gratefully appreciated, though!

    Thanks a lot!

    Kind regards!
