Prasant RaiModeratorHello Joel,
Thanks for writing in!
Advertisement is coming from Google Adsense. Have you implemented Google Adsense on website?
Thanks.

jupeboxParticipantNot that I am aware of. Is that a plug-in? I don’t see it in my plug-in list. Would you be able to help me remove that?

JoaoModeratorHi Joel,
You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
Let us know how it goes,
Joao

jupeboxParticipantA plugin conflict can enable Google adwords?

JadeModeratorHi Joel,
Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / passwordDon’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

FriechModeratorHi There,
Thanks for the credentials, yeah this is weird. Is the ad only showing only on that specific post?
No, a plugin conflict can not enable Google adwords. But a plugin test can help us determine if a plugin is bringing this ads or not.
I don’t see a child theme on your site, but is there a chance that you modified a template from the parent x and added the Google ad code there?
February 10, 2017 at 10:54 pm #1366706
jupeboxParticipantThanks for checking it out. It seems to be on blog posts, yeah, so more than one post.
Not sure what you mean by child theme, but I don’t remember adding Google ad code.
What should we do next?
Thanks!!

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
Please update x and cornerstone and disable all plugins (except those come with x) so we can investigate the issue.
Thanks.

jupeboxParticipantAre there other options? Would Google know? I’d hate to shut down my business for however long it would take.
February 12, 2017 at 4:12 am #1367696
ChristianModeratorYour site might have been hacked and the ad code was added. Please deactivate all third party plugins and scripts or it’s best if you contact a web developer to search your site for malicious code or code you have not added yourself.
This is not an issue with X nor bundled plugins so we could not further investigate.
Thanks.

jupeboxParticipantHere is what Google said to me. Can you help?
——-
If I would have such a problem, I guess the first I would do is to browse wp-content/themes/x folder with online file manager, WordPress Dashboard Editor, or FTP, and I think I would be looking for files with the word single in filename:
https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/#single-post
Simply because if the ads are on Blog only, that should mean the ad code might be hard-coded in posts only (and probably not in pages).

JadeModeratorHI Joel,
We could try to check on the files through FTP so kindly provide us with the FTP logins of your site.
Thank you.
