    Hey guys, have a question.

After every (blog) post I make, somehow, there is a link added to the chosen url that is neither in the slug, nor configured in the post.

    For example:

Let’s say the slug for a post is supposed to be: “https://themeco.com/cornerstone-x” it is turned into:
    https://themeco.com/cornerstone-x”/www.themex.com .

In other words, it puts a related website behind the actual url.
    Obviously, these cause 404s.

Any idea what’s going on here?

    Hi,

May I know where you did you get the lists of 404s?

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

    Hi there,

Your permalink settings seems fine and permalinks are fine as well on your site. So it should be same as your page slug. There is nothing I can see that might cause this and I don’t think it’s related with X. You can switch to a default theme and check again to make sure.

    Cheers!

    Hey Rupok.

So it’s not X but you have no clue what is causing this? Any suggestion perhaps?

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

It might be google cache, I don’t see any URL that has www.freekvanworkum.com on any page. Could you try it again, but this time please turn off your caches and cache plugin.

This frequently happens where crawlable information doesn’t reflect in realtime due to caches.

    Thanks!

    Hey Rad,

Trying that now. I deactivated the cache plugin and marked the 404 links as solved. Hopefully they wont return!
Ill keep you posted. Thanks again!
