    Hey Pablo,

I checked page 2 of your category page and it’s working fine http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/category/native-instruments/page/2/

Please clear your browser history and check again.

    Thanks.

    Thank you for your answer,

But if you go to the 2nd page here in this category, you´ll get a 404 error:

    http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/artistas

regarding the “/category” at the url, I´d prefer it is not shown.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Even if /category/ is removed, WordPress is still expecting a way to distinguish a post/page and a category page. This is category http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/artistas but I can add a post with the same name as http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/artistas.

Pagination will of course not going to work if there are any conflict. How did you remove it?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

So what are the best settings it to make the pagination work? Consider we have many posts now with their own URLs and we could break many external links if we change the posts URL structure.

Regarding your question about removing the /blog or /category in the posts URLs, I did not any special thing but leaving blank the main category.

I don´t really understand why if http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/artistas is shown correctly its 2nd, 3rd, etc. pages are giving a 404 error.

    Any solution, please?

    Kind regards.

    Hi there,

Where did you leave it blank? WordPress has no feature that removes category slug, it’s more on 3rd party plugin or feature.

Also, check this http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/category/artistas/ and pagination works.

It just confirms that removing category slug causes the issue. It should work, but please note that even custom permalinks require proper handling of query_var’s pagination. Hence, I need to know what feature that let you remove the category slug.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thank you for your explanation. As far as I know, I haven´t installed any 3th party plugin related with the category slugs.

If you go to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks > Optional > Base Category, you can leave it blank there.

What he have is each category slug as the custom estructure /%category%/%postname%/

So when you link a category like http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/artistas/ you can see its contents directly.

What I don´t understand is why if a category is created it could have issues with pages, menu items, etc. WP should prevent duplicated URLs with the category-2 and so on suffixes.

And finally, I think if the var /%category%/ is a possible custom structure within WP, pagination should work in this case too.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Pablo,

Unfortunately, this is WP issue and not a theme issue. Removing the category base when you access in the URL would result that WP cannot make a difference between a Page and category page. This requirement for a category base is pretty much a religious tenant at WordPress.
    The following links might help:

    Hi again,

Maybe I haven´t explained myself so well: I haven´t removed, nor installed any plugin, nor forced, nor coded, etc. anything related with categories, or customizing the blog structure, etc.

My base category is “actualidad”, which is selected at the Dashboard settings.

The pagination doesn´t work in any category, including the base category:

    http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/actualidad

I currently manage another WordPress sites with the same blog configuration, like:

    http://www.aediga.es/actualidad

As you can see, the pagination at that site works as expected (there the theme is not X), so I´m not sure or I don´t understand why at http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/actualidad (X theme) is a WP issue and at http://www.aediga.es/actualidad is not (Enfold theme).

    So weird.

    Anyway, thank you.

    Hi There,

There might be special settings or htaccess to that other site. You can try switching from X theme to default theme like Twenty Sixteen. You can see that this link will not also work:http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/actualidad/page/2/. But the default with category slug like this will work:http://www.adagiodistribucion.es/category/actualidad/page/2/

    Hello again,

This issue is not solved yet. I have also installed a new X-Theme with the Agency demo, and the next page 404 issue happens with the portfolio. Please, take a look, it´s a clean new site which currently is on development. I send you the login credentials in the next private message.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Please increase number of posts per page under ‘portfolio settings’ box to a greater number. This number should be at lease equal to existing number of portfolio items.

You can also change permalinks to ‘Post name’ and check portfolio page again.

    Hope it helps.
