JfantasyBooksParticipantHello,
Details:
Name: JFantasyBooks
Site: Fantasy-Updates
Site Url: https://fantasy-updates.live
WordPress Version: 4.6.1
X Version: 4.6.2
Cornerstone Plugin Version: 1.3.2Problem:
You guys have helped me greatly before.
This time, I have another problem.
My site’s homepage goes through a 301 redirect when I use a static page which slows down page load time. I’ve checked through my host, and there is no problem on their side. And when i’m using the blog option, I do not get a 301 redirect. Only when I’m using the static page.
I spoke to the wordrpress team, and they said that a suggestion would be to create a front-page.php as wordpress follows the heirarchy shown @ https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/ and the first thing it looks for is a front-pae.php. And that maybe it would help.
X theme doesn’t have a front-page.php.
So, that being said, can you show me how to make one in x theme? It should just show the static page I have set.
Or, if you have any other suggestions.
Thank You.

NicoModeratorHi There,
Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password
– FTP credentialsDon’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.
Thanks.

RupokMemberHi there,
Are you using a static page as home page right now? It seems fine and no redirect issue. Would you clarify how we can replicate this issue? And if you see the hierarchy then you will see front-page.php is not mendatory rather page.php or index.php will be used when it’s not present.
Hope this makes sense.

JfantasyBooksParticipantYes, I am using as static page as a homepage at the moment.
Hmm. The thing is, I used https://gtmetrix.com/ and it shows a 301 redirect. The only time it pops up is when wordpress is using a static page.
That is with any theme i’ve tried so far.
I was just wondering if x theme might have a suggestion.
Do you still need the credentials?

RupokMemberHi there,
I tried with gtmetrix and didn’t face such redirect issue – http://prntscr.com/ckwj1t
Would you clarify what you are referring with a screenshot?
Thanks!

JfantasyBooksParticipantHey there,
Thanks for looking int it.
Well, if you look at the waterfall, that’s when it will show you ‘301 moved’, indicating the 301 redirect. And if you click on them, they show the details for each.
Thanks.

RadModeratorHi there,
Still a bit confusing, would you mind providing a video recording? Where is the waterfall located?
Thanks!

JfantasyBooksParticipantWell, I can just show you on the link you screenshot you showed earlier, http://prnt.sc/ckwj1t
If you proceed to the top of the screenshot, there are several tabs. The one you are on is called pagespeed. If you go over one, it says YSlow, and then one more there is the one called ‘waterfall’. if you click on it, it shows a breakdown of what and how the page is loaded. The first step shows a 301 redirect.

ChristianModeratorI checked your site in GTMetrix > Waterfall and I don’t see a 301 redirect (see attachment). Please check again.
Thanks.

JfantasyBooksParticipantAh.
Thank You.
I just noticed from your invovlement that if you type it in without the https you get a 301 redirect. So that means I have a redirect from http to https. I’ve been trying to find out why this was happening for the longest time, and at first it didn’t seem like that was the reason. But…
Thank you, and sorry for bother you with something like this.
