I have been away for a while. I am running X version 2.4.0 at SteamEnglish.com. I need to get current. It seems like I remember with some of the updates since that time, I have to do something special to update (Cornerstone?).
How do I get from 2.4.0 to the latest? I tried a manual FTP update and things didn’t work out.

    Thanks in advance!

    Specifically, I followed these instructions:

    MANUAL X UPDATE VIA FTP

    Unzip x.zip on your computer.
Rename the x folder to x-updating.
Connect to your server via FTP and navigate to your /wp-content/themes/ directory.
Drag and drop the x-updating folder into your themes directory.
Upon completion, rename the previous x folder to x-previous.
Rename x-updating to x. Your site will now be at the latest version.
    Delete the x-previous folder.
Visit the WordPress dashboard at least once to ensure any migration logic can run (this happens behind the scenes).

    Hi There,

First of all backup your website because that is quite a jump.

    Than do the following.

    1. Revoke your API key from X Addons section (check the bottom of the page) and also remove it from your license page on Themeco.

    https://community.theme.co/my-licenses/

    2. Temporary disable any caching plugins and purge all your server cache and Turn off & Delete X Shortcodes if you still have installed.

    3. Delete both X theme (/wp-content/themes/x) and Cornerstone plugin (/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone) by connecting to your FTP (your settings will be saved in the database)

    4. Download the latest copy of X and upload it to your themes folder via FTP OR you can upload the x.zip via Appearance -> Themes section.

    5. Latest version of Cornerstone will be installed automatically when you head over X Addons section. Now you try validating your X theme again and then try to install any other extension and it should function properly.

If you are using a child theme you also will need to perform a a child theme update, please check the following thread:

    https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/child-theme-updates/

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!

When I go to https://community.theme.co/my-licenses/ I only see a license for martinrayvaughan.com. I am trying to do this on steamenglish.com. Do I have multiple accounts with you or something? I have 2 X theme purchase codes bought at Envato.

    Hi There,

    It is very likely.

Would you mind providing in a private reply your Evanto purchase codes?

    Thanks

    Thank you!
I realized I need to make another license purchase, so I just did that.

In your first reply, you say, “1. Revoke your API key from X Addons section (check the bottom of the page) and also remove it from your license page on Themeco.

    https://community.theme.co/my-licenses/”

Now that I’ve just a new purchase of X, do I still need to do that? (And if so, what did you mean “check the bottom of the page”)

Also, I am struggling with #2 of your solution:
“2. Temporary disable any caching plugins and purge all your server cache and Turn off & Delete X Shortcodes if you still have installed.”

I tried deleting x Shortcodes but I cannot because it is being used on the main site. I’m guessing the first part of your solution (purging server cache) has something to do with this?

    Hi There,

    1. If you did not validated your domain yet, revalidate your setup again after installing the latest version of X theme.

    2. Remove X shortcodes in the latest version because It will conflict with cornerstone. No worries, x-shortcode is bundled already in the cornerstone and latest X theme will only work with cornerstone.

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks.
