Pollito69ParticipantHello,
This is the first time I will be updating X theme in WP for my site.
I have now version 4.3.4 installed, and need to update to 4.5.2.
My site is selfdefenseatlanta.com
I have child theme setup and several plugins.I have read through some articles in the knowledge base and I created already full backup of my site using UpdraftPlus.
As this is my first time updating X Theme, I would like to get your guidance on the steps I need to take to ensure I will not mess anything up.
Thanks for your help!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in! If you have a backup of your full site then you are ready to go. Make sure to take a backup of your Customizer settings from X Addons menu.
However it’s always a good practice to use a staging server to perform update. If you face any small issue, you can fix it there and finally do it on live server as you know what you might face.
Cheers!

Pollito69ParticipantThanks for the information. I assume that you mean to setup a development environment? If yes, could you tell me what is needed / provide link to the instructions? I read many articles about it but none of them (so far) has provided good set of instructions.
Thanks!July 4, 2016 at 4:58 pm #1072034
DarshanaModeratorHi there,
As we provide additional license to validate your development environment (https://community.theme.co/kb/product-validation/), you can simply create a sub-domain of your site as your staging server (staging.your-site.com) with the same copy of your live site.
You can use the following article to set it up (https://community.theme.co/kb/cornerstone-migration/) as it will be similar to a migration.
Hope that’s clear.
