Uh oh! Cornerstone Not Working

We cannot edit our pages with Cornerstone. When we try we first receive an “Uh oh! The preview HTML did not include…” message. Then Cornerstone never opens. My programmer has reviewed things and tried the various suggested solutions in your forum. The only thing that works is if we disable essentially ALL the plugins. This is obviously not acceptable. And I need to make critical updates to the pages. Please advise.

Hello @sburgoon,

Thanks for asking and I am really sorry that Cornerstone is not working properly.

Going through the question it’s clear that the problem over here is because of plugin conflict. I suggest you to deactivate all the plugin and activate one at a time to narrow down.

I also see that you are using X Theme version 4.2.2 https://cloudup.com/c7sSRtzM4id. Please note that running old version of X Theme and Cornerstone are prone to security issues as we are constantly releasing new versions that fixes bugs, comes with new features and many other goodies. In that regards I suggest you to please update X Theme and Cornerstone to the most recent version. I am sharing relevant resources that you can take a look.

Thanks.

First, I am not sure what site you are looking at. The site in question is http://www.partnershipadv.com. You will notice that it is (and was) running the latest theme: http://www.partnershipadv.com/wp-content/themes/x/style.csshttp://www.partnershipadv.com/wp-content/themes/x/style.css.

Second, my programmer has gone through and deactivated plugins. The problem is that almost all of the plugins seem to cause the conflict.

This is a clients site that I cannot modify and thus I am potentially going to loose business. Please give this a little more attention.

Hi There,

I can certainly understand your concerns. Since it is a live site, can you setup a staging environment to test these issues. You can set it up using the exact copy of the live site, so that we should be able to assist you with our findings.

You can follow this guide for that (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-content-builder-migration/126/1) and also provide us with the login credentials and FTP information to the staging site in a secure note.

Thanks!

OK, thank you. I will get that going today and report back with access info.

Sure, let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

It is not going well. We are having trouble migrating it. Is there a way you can look at the live site? I have it backed up.

Hey @sburgoon,

Sorry to hear that you’re still having difficulties. We’re happy to help by taking a look at the site ourselves, so please provide us with the following information:

  • Login URL
  • Username
  • Password

Since we will be investigating a conflict with a plugin on a live site, to minimise any potential downtime, it would also be advisable for you to provide us with:

  • FTP server address
  • FTP username
  • FTP password

However, before we can go ahead and investigate this, we need to be sure that it’s a site that is under your control. The URL that you are referring to is not attached to the license in the account you’ve posted under. I can see the URL under another account, which may belong to you, but for your protection, I’ll need you to also confirm the email address associated with the other account, or you could just log in and post using that account.

When you provide these details to us, please use a secure note so that the information is not visible to anyone else. You can do that by clicking on the key icon beneath your post and then adding the details in the popup that appears.

Once you’ve taken care of the above, we can investigate this further for you. If we do find a conflict with a specific plugin (or plugins), please be aware that it may be that you’ll need to reach out to those plugin authors for a solution. But we’ll guide you on this further once we’ve taken a look.

Thanks!

This just keeps getting more complicated. I thank you for your willingness to help. I can give you all the access info. However, I don’t know what email (if not this one) the other Xthmen account is under. The only thing I can think of is ReveCreative.com (a company I had quite a while ago). Can I just buy another version and get this moving forward?

Hey @sburgoon,

I appreciate the frustration but I’m sure you can understand the sensitivity regarding accessing a website that is attached to another account. Let’s try to find a way to move forward that doesn’t involve you spending more money!

The other account does not seem to be connected to the old company you mentioned, but I don’t mind telling you that the email address attached has a .ro top level domain indicating someone perhaps from Romania set it up for you?

Alternatively, if you do not have access to that account, perhaps you have proof of purchase of the license? According to my records, it was purchased in Feb 2016, so if you have the email order confirmation from the payment processor, or something similar, I could move the license across to this account. I just need to be sure that it is in fact, your license, before I do that. I’m sure you can understand that.

I know it’s frustrating and you’re eager to find a resolution to your problem (as are we), so let’s try and get the above bit cleared up so that we can start focusing on the site itself.

I appreciate your patience in working with me in all this. The account you mentioned is my programmer’s account. His email address is cosmin@dbg.ro. Please feel free to send him a confirmation email.

We also managed to get the site to a staging/development server. The URL is http://dev.partnershipadv.com. Once Cosmin confirms the account, we will set you up with ftp and admin access post that info.

Thanks again.

Hi @sburgoon,

Hope you’re well today.

Unfortunately, we do not get confirmation to the owner of the account by personally contacting them. Since the domain is in another account that you are associated with, kindly contact that person and have him do the license transfer request so that we can process it.

Once you have everything setup, please post the FTP and admin access info here so that we can check your issue.

Thank you.

Hello @sburgoon,

I saw you posted a reply but eventually deleted the same and now looks like you have withdrawn your post. I am posting this reply to make sure you don’t have any related questions to this thread?

Thanks.
