Snippet question

Hi Team,

When creating a blog post or adding a page we can find a section to complete the snippet for this page (supported by your schema snippet extension)

Now in that last field what exactly do we enter there? The page/post url, BlogPosting, Article, or what?

Cheers

Hey @quinex,

Please check this link to see more information about the mainEntityOfPage field:

https://schema.org/mainEntityOfPage

Also, to fully understand Schema, please check out this page for a detailed explanation and examples:
https://schema.org/docs/schemas.html

Hope this helps.

Hi Jade,

No unfortunately it does not… it is still not clear what and how exactly I should enter in that field.

Is it the page link?

What format should this content be in.

It is included in Theme.co so I would expect that some guidance can be provided

Hello @quinex,

Thanks for updating the thread.

Please take a look at the reply posted in following thread:

Thanks.

Hi,

I’m sorry but still don’t get it. Why can’t you give an example of what should be in that field?

For example it is a single blogpost and the url would be : mydomain.com/blog/post-1/

The title would be: Post 1

What would go in that field?

Hi @quinex,

You may add the url of the blog post on that field.

You may refer to the link below for a detailed explanation

Please note that this is outside the scope of support as this is not an issue with the extension.
It is part of on page optimization and would advise you to consult with a SEO Specialist regarding this.

Thanks

Thanks Paul,

In understand that it is an SEO optimization, but since the plugin is part of the Theme.co framework it should be listed in the manual what kind or content should go in here, which you now clearly stated it should be a url of the page or post.

I didn’t ask advice how to optimize it, just what content should go in here.

Hello @Quinex,

Please understand that we merely provided a tool that bridges the gap between the site and the Schema for easier application. We would highly recommend that you understand the Schema as a whole so that it would be very clear when using the Snippet extension plugin. This is why as you noticed our knowledge base article (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/extension-snippet/94) only discusses more about how you can use the Snippet plugin and not what it is about.

@Jade has responded and gave a direct reference related to Schema.

@Paul.r, on the other hand, suggested a link on how you can implement the MainEntityofPage entry to your site.

We are helping the best that we can and pointing out the Schema.org site is the right place to better understand how Schema works and what are the necessary things in order for it to work. Our snippet plugin is just a tool that you can use in applying Schema. In your case, it is either you insert Creative Work or a URL of the page.

Thank you for your kind understanding.

Thanks, yes it was more clear now… I know Schema, but it was just unclear what to enter in this input field, what format… just the url or creative or in a format like this: "itemprop=“mainEntityOfPage” href=“http://cathscafe.example.com/

Hi @quinex,

The URL itself will suffice. So, for your case it should be:

http://cathscafe.example.com/

The plugin generates the itemprop and href portion automatically and replaces the value of the href with the URL that you enter in the text box that you gave the screenshot.

Thank you.
