Setting up blog on X Theme / Icon Stack

Hi there,

I am having trouble setting up a blog page for my site.

I am new to WP but after searching in the forum I still could not figure this out.

First, I do not see these options under Reading Settings https://prnt.sc/k00vvh.

After finally learning that a blog post must be set to "published"in order to be indexed by the blog page (I had it set to “draft” previously), I’ve noticed that the newly published post showed up on the HOME page instead, NOT the BLOG page. Why did this happen and how can I fix it?

Also, where in X can I set up my site to be “private”? I know I can set up the blog posts to private but I can’t find the option to make the entire site private.

Thanks for your time!

Hi Faisal,

Thank you for writing in, the Settings > Reading panel is present on a WordPress site by default (regardless of the Theme). Unless a plugin or custom function was added to hide it intentionally.

Currently, your home page is you blog page, because you have not set your Homepage displays option, like on your screenshot.

Navigate to X > Validation > Extensions then install and activate the Under Construction extension.

Extension - Under Construction

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

Thanks for your help. I was able to add the Under Construction extension and make it private.

In regards to the Reading Settings, like I mentioned on my previous post I could not see the options you highlighted and that was because none of my pages were set to “published”. That caused the options to not show up. According to WP support:

“Make sure you have at least one published, public page, otherwise the option to set a static front page won’t appear. (This is a Customizer issue, not a theme-related one.)”

Thanks again.

Hello Faisal,

Did you set static pages already? Please make sure that you have created the page “Home” and “Blog” before you can assign it. And then you will go to Settings > Reading > Your Homepage Displays. If you already did or still looking for it, to assist you better with this issue, would you mind providing us the url of your site with login credentials so we can take a closer look?

To do this, you can create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

Thank you.
