Question about Theme Files

Hello

We are thinking of using X Theme to build a site for a client and they had this to ask…

“For X-Theme, do we get the backend hard coded files? The reason we are wondering about that is if we need to do any major architectural changes through “X-Theme” (IF we decide to do that) which could be just another type of frontend code files.”

Do they have the ability to update these files once the site is built?

Hello @Stigan,

Thanks for asking.

Yes, you get all the files and the codes that’s powering X Theme, UI design etc. You can find the files under /wp-content/themes/x/ directory. You can also see the codes from Appearance > Editor under WordPress admin section. Having said that, please take care of following things while editing the codes:

  1. I suggest you to use FTP to edit the files. Though you can edit the core codes from Appearance > Editor but it’s advisable to use FTP.
  2. Please install and setup child theme to edit the files. You can use following resources to download and setup child theme.

Download Child theme from following source: https://theme.co/apex/child-themes

Please take a look at following article to setup child theme:

Thanks.
