Problems after updating theme and cornerstone

Hi,

I have just updated my theme and the Cornerstone plugin for my website (mdrnhome.nl). Unfortunately this has resulted in a few problems:

  • I can’t acces Cornerstone and Theme Options anymore. I just get a blank page.
  • Under my footer there is a white bar. See screenshot.

Can you please help me? Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, I can’t find anything from your site’s front other than the cache. Please provide your admin login credentials in the secure note and I’ll check it.

For the meantime, please check for the following first:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.

  2. If you’re using a caching plugin, clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugin and other optimization plugins.

  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

  5. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.

  6. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

  7. Contact your host to increase your allocated memory or do it yourself by adding this code in your wp-config.php

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

Thanks.

Hi Rad,

Thank you for your response. Turns out that most of my third party plugins are causing the problems. The whole list of plugins that are problematic:

  • AddToAny Share Buttons
  • Contact Form 7
  • Cookies for Comments
  • Easy Forms for MailChimp
  • GDPR Cookie Consent
  • Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP)
  • Google Tag Manager for Wordpress
  • Link Checker
  • Mollie Payments for WooCommerce
  • Slider Revolution
  • Smush
  • The SEO Framework
  • W3 Total Cache
  • WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips

I’m going to activate them again since some of these plugins are simply essential for my website. What do I do now?

Hi There,

Please install and activate the Under Construction plugin:

Or I would recommend that you create a staging site so that we can compare your live site and the staging site. This is is also very useful because we can test drive any X updates in the staging area, do the customizations and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site.

To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

Thanks.

Hi

I have installed and activated the Under Construction plugin. What are the next steps?

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for asking again!

As mentioned by @thai above in the post, please set up a staging site and give us the access so that we can have a look on to your issue. In that way, the live site won’t have any issue.

Please send details in a secure note.

Thanks
