Post slider – Blog is very slow

Hi again!

I have tried to use POST SLIDER – BLOG option (Ethos) and cannot understand what is the problem.
It loads several seconds! Although my pictures are very small (20k and 120k)

Could you check it please?

Thank you!

Hello Michail,

Thanks for posting in! Before anything else, I would recommend that you make sure that you are up to date. Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 6.5.5
  • Cornerstone 3.5.4

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

_After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.-

Please let us know how it goes.

I am sorry but I have never done updaytes before so how can I do it?
I have downloaded - Last Updated March 20, 2019.
How and where can I upload files?

Thanks!

Hello Michail,

You can download the latest version from ThemeForest or from your APEX dashboard (https://theme.co/apex/dashboard).
And then you can update the theme manually. To know how, please see “Manual Updates” section in this article:

Hope this helps.

Ok, Thanks.
It looks like that I have updeated the Theme and Cornerstone.

However, the problem remains. It takes 8-10 seconds do load the Post slider :frowning:

Hello Michail,

When I view your post slider, it only take less than 8 seconds to load the slider. You may have some browser caching issue. Could you please clear your browser cache or use Private Browsing mode (Incognito Mode in Chrome) and test your site again.

Please let us know how it goes.

I have tried incognito mode and I also used my second computer.
The result is the same. I have to wait like 8-10 seconds before it loads, while the rest pictures on the site load almost instantely.

Hi Michail,

Have you deactivated the post slider? I checked and all images loads instantly but I don’t see a post slider although it says active on the source code of the page. Would you mind providing a video recording of what you’re getting?

Thanks!

Hi!
Yes, I deactivated it. But I have turned it on for you.
Also, this is the video

Hi Michail,

The Post Slider loads after the page are completely loaded. That is why the page being heavy has an effect on the slider load.

The images below cause a long loading case:
This: http://aquariumbreeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/TDS-logo2.jpg
and this: http://aquariumbreeder.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/small-Nitrates-in-shrimp-tank-2.jpg

Thank you.

I have resized them to 122k and 100k.
The loading time is shorter, it takes about 4-6 seconds now.
Can I do anything else to improve it?

Thank you very much!

Hi Michail,

You can not change the Slider load speed as it waits until the whole page loads. So your main focus should be on making the page lighter as much possible.

I suggest that you check this article for more information.

If you need more optimization you need to consider hiring a professional to do extra optimization.

Thank you.

Can I ask another question about slider here?

I have tried to make all my pictures as light as possible. but still, the Post slider was slow. So I took it down.

However, can you tell me how can I add Metaslider pluggin on the main page?
Right now I cannot put it anywhere.

Thank you!

Hi Michail,

Regretfully, we do not provide support for 3rd party plugins such as Metaslider plugin(https://wordpress.org/plugins/ml-slider/) in your question.

However upon checking, I see that it offers a shortocode for it’s sliders. In such cases, you can use Raw Content element in Cornerstone to place your shortcode there. If you have any other concerns such as incompatibility issues, please escalate it through the plugin developer.

Other option would be to use Revolution Slider bundled plugin that comes with X theme. Please check the knowledge base articles below on how to utilize it.

Thanks!
