My site has lost its theme

I created this site years ago and forgot about it. I went to update it recently and it is a text only site. I forgot how to log into it and work on it. Do I need to update to the latest version of X as well?

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Yes make sure to update both X and Cornerstone to the latest version as you may have the older version. You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

To get started with X please checkout https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-getting-started/63 and to learn more about WordPress you can refer to the following links https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-find-your-wordpress-login-url/ and https://www.wpexplorer.com/get-started-wordpress-guide/ just skip the steps you already have done.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. That sounds like what I need, to get started with the basics again. Do you think my old site is recoverable?

Hi There,

Did you lost your password? You can follow any of the method provided here to try to recover your password. I recommend you try the Recover password in WordPress by e-mail method first.

if you able to login to the admin dashboard and update the Wordpress and Theme, then yes you can revive your old site. But if you feel that it would be best to start over, then that would be a good idea too.

Cheers!

Thanks for the response. When i go to login into wp on my site, i get forwarded to a deadend, no site found. if i go to the site it is there, but without a theme. I know the passwords.

Hi there,

Do you still have your FTP access? If so kindly login through Filezilla then edit the wp-config.php then find the line:

define( 'WP_DEBUG', false );

then set it to true. Once you’ve done that, go back to the admin area. If you see some error messages, it will give you some idea if what is causing the issue.

If you do not know where to get your FTP details, please get in touch with your hosting provider for it. Also, they might be able to help you determine the error that is causing the site not to display correctly.

Hope this helps.
