Issue when Loading The Grid

We are still in pre-production, so unsure if this makes a difference, but…

When all grids load on our website, they layout incorrectly for the first second or so, then change layout to layout correctly. It’s very noticable. I have included an example video in a secure note.

It’s like it’s putting the grid on the page, displaying it, then formatting it after that.

Please get back to us ASAP about this.

Thanks!

Hello there,

Thanks for writing in!

It might be that a plugin is in conflict with your The Grid plugin.

Let us try to test this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If you still have problems, can you share to us your Wordpress URL/User/Pass in a secure note so we can take a closer look?

Thank you.

Didn’t seem to fix it. Sent you the credentials.

Hey @paulandrobert,

What you see is normal given the size of your images which is averaging 5 MB each. Your total page size is 20 MB (see Secure Note). What happens during loading is, the grid waits for your images to load to calculate the layout or before loading necessary scripts. That is why you see a broken layout at first. The solution to that would be to optimize your images. For more details, please the Image Compression section in our Performance guide. After this, check if there is improvement. If there is improvement but you still see the issue, you will need to lower the image size by using one of the predefined image thumbnails. You can find that under the Media settings of your grid.

Thanks.

We have used EWWW Image Optimizer plugin, optimized all images. We have tried setting the"image size" as suggested, to all of the sizes, and the same issue remains.

Please advise.

Is it a setting of the grid?

I was able to fix this issue, using the “Grid Preloader”. Works like a charm now.

Thanks so much for your help!

Glad you’ve sorted it out
