How to create static front page that also shows the blog posts

Hi! I was wondering how I can create a static front page that also shows my blog posts. However, I’d like my blog posts to be shown in the same way that they are currently being shown on the front page (with the different colors, the size of the photo + amount of text etc.).

Also, I’ve had my X-theme for awhile and I feel like some features of it are missing? Specifically the page builder to drag and drop layouts. Is there something I need to update to do this? Please let me know.

This is my site: TheStrangeisBeautiful.com. Right now it shows the blog posts as the front page, but I’d like it to have a information before the blog posts as well.

Thank you!

Sending you positive vibes,
Shannen

Hi Shannen,

Thank you for writing in, you need to create a page and then assign that as the Homepage in the Settings > General.

Then use either The Grid or Essential Grid to populate your posts on the homepage.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

I am looking for a solution to this too. I have tried the Grid and Essential Grid, but I don’t like the appearance. I need them to look exactly like they look in line vs “grid” style.

Hi @D4Industries,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I believe you can achieve this with third party plugins for example https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-show-posts/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/ but please note that we cannot provide support for third party plugins or scripts as our support policy states due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script.

Another option for you could be Recent Posts element http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/shortcodes/recent-posts/ you can use single post per shortcode and use the offset to display more posts.

If this doesn’t help then you can create a custom page template that would display posts inline but that would require custom development which is regretfully outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. Following links might be helpful in this regard https://www.cloudways.com/blog/creating-custom-page-template-in-wordpress/ or https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-create-a-custom-page-in-wordpress/

Thanks for understanding. Take care!

How do I install The Grid or Essential Grid? I don’t have those functions in my WordPress.

Hi Shannen,

You can install The Grid and/or Essential Grid under X > Validation > Extensions

These plugins are free bundled with the X and Pro theme, these extensions won’t show up if you did not validate your theme.

Cheers!

How do I validate my theme? I think I already registered it…this is what my WordPress looks like:

When I click register it just leads me back to my Apex account info.

I think I found my API key and just inputted that, so now the screen looks like this:

Does that mean it is now validated? If so, how come I still can’t find the plugins?

Hey Shannen,

I’m sorry but that is not the interface you need. That is an old version or you’re using a very old version of X.

You would need to manually update X first for this case. Please see the instruction at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62

Then, you will need to validate X. Please see https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-product-validation/55

After that, you will be able to see the interface @friech showed you.

Thanks.
