This issue began when I switched the font family from inherit to headings for one of the headlines but it affected all of the headlines.

It could be due to internal caching, could you try going to Admin > X or Pro > Status and clear its cache? Then please test it again.
If the issue remain as is then please provide your site’s URL and admin login credentials and we’ll check.

It seems like the issue was caused by the typekit plugin. I temporarily disabled it for now. If you are still using typekits, you wont need to enable the plugin because it is already in PRO’s font manager.
