Getting an API Key

When logging into my WordPress dashboard I am being asked to do the following. Where/How can I get an API key?

Step 1: Register
To get started, register for access to the member center. This is where you’ll have access to all of our resources including the Knowledge Base, support forums, and much more.

Step 2: Get an API Key
Once you have registered for access to the member center, go generate your product API key under the “Licenses” section. This key is used for automatic updates (tutorial here).

Step 3: Validate
After acquiring your product API key from the member center, enter it on the Product Validation page to start receiving automatic updates once they’re available.

Hello Mariana,

Thanks for writing in!

The API key was last used in the previous version. When we release X 4.5.x (https://theme.co/changelog/#theme-x-4-4-2)

Please make sure that you are using the latest version which is X theme 6.2.5. If you have the older version, then you will have to update the theme manually. Please check out this article and see “Manual Updates” section: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62

To validate X properly, please do the following:
1] Please login to your account and assign the license. You need to assign the license to your site using this url: https://www.example.com/. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
2] Go back to X > Overview again, and insert the license code.

And please review the changes that we made on how you are going to validated your X theme because we made a big change in the process. Please check it out here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-product-validation/55

Hope this helps

I updated the theme and validated X properly.

I am still getting this error, please advise as to what is happening and what still needs to get done.

See error below:

“An error occurred while updating Divi Builder: Before you can receive product updates, you must first authenticate your Elegant Themes subscription. To do this, you need to enter both your Elegant Themes Username and your Elegant Themes API Key into the Updates Tab in your theme and plugin settings. To locate your API Key, log in to your Elegant Themes account and navigate to the Account > API Key page. Learn more here. If you still get this message, please make sure that your Username and API Key have been entered correctly.”

Hi,

It sounds like you might be having an issue with a third party theme. Regretfully, we cannot provide support for third party plugins or scripts as our support policy in the sidebar states due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.
