Comment on post

Hello,

When i allow comments on my posts, all the headlines are in English.
How can i change the comment titles to Arabic. Instead of Add Comment i want :اضف تعليق

thx

Hi @tarekr,

Would you please give us the exact URL of the page that you have the problem? I can not find the section you are talking about.

I suggest that you use the Single Sentence Translation method mentioned in this article.

Thank you.

Hi There,

Those textx should be there on the x.pot file.

Try following this thread for an alternative solution (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/translate-leave-a-comment-on-blog-post-page/16144).

Thanks!

Hi,

If i translate the .pot file does this affect my English language subfolder https://tarekrabaa.com/en/ ?
The procedure you sent to me is not straightforward and complicated. The ,pot file for PRO theme i can edit and i change the text but nothing change.

Can i change it from the CSS customizer? I need also to have the text from Right to Left.
I already did this on https://tarekrabaa.com/opinion/ where you can see the word المزيد in Arabic. Can i do the same for the Comments?
Thx

Hi,

Translating your.pot will not affect your language subfolder.

Please makes sure that your language file is in correct location.

Kindly review the link below for more details.

Thanks

Thx.

Last question. I am using PRO child theme. Do i need to copy the .pot file to framework in the .child theme

I have two files: PRO.pot and X.pot

Do i need to change in both files? or in the X.pot only?

Thx

Hi,

You don’t need to copy the .pot files to your child theme and since you are using PRO you only need to translate PRO.pot

If you want to put your translation in your child theme kindly review Uploading your Translation in a Child Theme Section on the link below.

Thanks

Hi,
I used the Jetpack plugin for comments Check this URL https://tarekrabaa.com/stances/سعد-الحريري-يسجّل-موقفا-وثائق-الاتصال/#comment-1

When i am trying to post with Facebook, always it gives error. ERROR: your url is too long.

Why?

Can i translate manually the PRO.pot file? The guidelines links provided are complicated
I tried the FB comment plugin provided with the theme, I cannot control the comments they post.

thx

Hello There,

Thanks for updating in!

The error “ERROR: your url is too long” is coming from Facebook. The Facebook platform may only accept shorter urls. Please use URL shortener services instead like the sites in this links: https://www.lifewire.com/shortening-long-links-3486603

Yes you can translate the Pro.pt file. For more details, please refer to this knowledge base article: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-translation/61

Do you want to control the comments, please use the default WordPress Comments instead. This is way easier to manage compare to Facebook Comments where in you do not have any controls or ways to moderate over the comments.

Hope this helps.

Thx.
I have two issues.
I can only download Poedit and i cannot see the option open with.
The same when i access my .pot file i don’t see the option open with but only i see the edit or download.

I am using the PRO theme with child theme.

For shortening links i am already using WP shortner but it is not appearing on the FB comment plugin but on social share it is working,
IF i download the PRO.pot and trying to use POEDIT i am having fatal error when i use new language,

From another side, if i translate in the PRO.pot, this will affect my other multisite using the same PRO license https://tarekrabaa.com/en which i needed as it is in english. My main site is where i need to translate.

thx

Hey @tarekr,

For the .pot file issue, it’s currently a known bug. Please follow the solution at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/pot-file-not-working/11274/5?u=christian_y

Regarding FB Comment, shortening a URL might not be accepted by Facebook as well. Try testing a short URL (not shortened by an external service or plugin)

Create another Pro child theme and put the language folder in there. See Uploading your Translation in a Child Theme section in our translation setup article.

Thanks.

Hi,

I would like to have a clarification on a specific issue. I have two Websites: One main https://tarekrabaa.com and another subfolder in English.https://tarekrabaa.com/en/ where both sites have the language in Wordpress defined in English but i am publishing in Arabic on tarekrabaa.com and in English on tarekrabaa.com/en/. I want the comments string to be in Arabic for the Arabic version and English for the English version while both sites language is English in the settings.
When i upload the translated .pot file, It will show the translation on both Arabic and English in Arabic.
How to solve this issue?

Hi there,

Are you referring to Jetpack comment section at the bottom here https://tarekrabaa.com/stances/سعد-الحريري-يسجّل-موقفا-وثائق-الاتصال/? It’s in iframe and it can’t be affected by any Wordpress translation. You should contact Jetpack developer to see what you could do to enforce specific language for comments.

Thanks!

Hello,

I canceled Jetpack. I will use normal commenting system of Wordpress.

Also the size of the comment box is bigger than the post dimensions.

How can i remove the headline in comment "Website: with its content box?

Hi Tarek,

In this case, you will have to edit this file in your child theme:
/pro/framework/views/integrity/wp-comments.php

and do the same logic mentioned on this thread, to show two different versions of comment_form based on the $blog_id, to manipulate comment_form function, please check this guide:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/comment_form

Thanks.

Hi Alaa,

I checked the wp-comments,php: it doesn’t include the strings i need to change. Or do you mean i need to translate the .pot file then to change the wp-comments,php accordingly?

Thx in advance

Hi there,

I checked and the strings are directly pulled from Wordpress (not the theme or plugins). The .pot file is for the theme, it’s not gonna work. You’ll have to translate it in similar way, but with different language files (not with the theme’s language files).

Try editing your site’s default language files, the one without a text domain. Do you have them?

Or use a translation plugin that can pickup those strings. Note that plugins and themes can have their own and separate translations, Wordpress’ default strings too.

Thanks!

Hi,

Where are they the site’s default language?

thx

Hi there,

They are usually bundled when you install Wordpress (non-english) like this https://ar.wordpress.org/. Try downloading that package and extract it, then copy the language files/folder from /wp-content/languages/ to your installation. That folder doesn’t exist in English version of Wordpress, so it’s safe to copy the entire language folder.

Thanks!
