Child Theme to test Cornerstone and X update

I’m not very verse with making child themes but I saw I could download it from you and it seems straight forward. https://theme.co/apex/child-themes

I have a couple of questions:

  • If I download and install it, will it automatically create a copy of the parent child?

  • Can I update Cornerstone and X within the Theme child without affecting the parent child? to see if it’s going to create issues?

The child theme is used for the customization only: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/customizations-best-practices/205.

To test the cornerstone and X update, you should create a new staging version.
