Child Theme not working when converting X to Pro

Hello,

I want to upgrade our site from X to Pro to take advantage of the advanced header functionality.

I have created a staging environment to test and am experiencing layout issues that I assume is related to the transfer of our child theme.

X child theme files have been transferred to Pro child theme. I followed the procedure outlined in this forum post: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/upgrading-from-x-to-pro-guide/25758/2

However when the Pro child theme is activated, the styling is all over the place - see here: https://staging1.enhancentertainment.com.au/

Can you please help?

Hi @gavgeorge,

Thank you for writing in, but we can’t view your staging site because it requires login, please provide.

In the meantime, please clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache), this will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Cheers!

Thanks, have PM’d you details. And have cleared all caches etc.

Hi @gavgeorge,

Next time, you should use the Secure Note button instead of sending a private message to our staffs, it would be better for us to help you:

Please follow these steps below(you should do it in your staging website):

  • Upload the Pro theme zip file using the Theme Mangager of WordPress:

  • Edit the style.css file of your child theme under https://enhancentertainment.com.au/wp-admin/theme-editor.php, find the Template: x text change to Template: pro:

Let us know how it goes!

Hi @thai,

Thanks kindly for your response. I had already updated the child theme as per your post above - please see attached

Hi @gavgeorge,

Please provide us your staging http login in Secure Note so we can further check on this.

Thank you!

Just sent as secure note. Thanks

Hi @gavgeorge,

I’m unable to access the WP Dashboard because of the authentication password:

Could you please provide us with your authentication credentials instead of WP Admin account?

Thank you.

That’s very strange. We have no authentication requirements on the staging site. Could you please try logging into our standard site using the credential provided, then navigate to the staging site and see if you can access that way?

Hi @gavgeorge,

It’s still the same. I guess it’s IP address/country restriction:

Please contact to your hosting provider about this.

For more information, please take a look at this:

Thank you.

Thanks @thai, I have contacted them and it turns out they created authentication! I will send in a secure note now. Thanks

Hi @gavgeorge,

It was the w3 total cache plugin that was causing the issue.
I deactivated it and your staging site it now looking fine.
Try to exclude the following js and css file from minification in your w3 total cache plugin. No need to minify these files as they are already minified by default.

JS

wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/assets/dist/js/site/cs-body.js
wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/assets/dist/js/site/cs-head.js
wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/assets/dist/js/site/cs-vendor.js
wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/assets/dist/js/site/cs.js
wp-content/themes/pro/framework/dist/js/site/x.js

CSS

wp-content/themes/pro/framework/dist/css/site/stacks/integrity-light.css

Hope this helps

Ah brilliant, thank you!

You’re welcome!
