Can't connect to your website - trying to update the theme?

My site has been hacked - and is clean now, and under review by Google as I now have warning messages in browsers. I can’t validate the theme purchase, it says it can’t connect to your website. I have an old version of theme installed right now - 2015? What is the issue here?

The site is huckleberry-inn.com

Hello Leslie,

Thanks for writing in!

To validate X properly, please do the following:
1] Please login to your account and assign the license (https://theme.co/apex/licenses). You need to assign the license to your site using this url: https://www.example.com/. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
2] Go back to X > Overview again, and insert the license code.

And please review the changes that we made on how you are going to validated your X theme because we made a big change in the process. Please check it out here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-product-validation/55

You mentioned that you are having connection issues. It could be that your server is blocking connections to our server. Please check out this article to troubleshoot for connection issues: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-validation-connection-issues/201

Hope this helps.

Hi, I solved the issue. The installation was so old - It wouldn’t let me validate via the normal way. I had to reload a new version of X. Then everything worked fine. It kept saying it couldn’t connect - probably because the old version you had to reload for every update?

Hi Leslie,

Yes, you’re correct on that. When you missed some of the major updates, our automatic update process will not be initiated correctly. So the solution would be to update manually until that point of release, and then you should be able to validate and use automatic updates from there onwards.

Glad you were able to figure it out

Cheers!
