X Theme is no longer compatible with WordPress

Oh sorry, below you will see the credentials in the secure note. My webhost rolled it back for a second time and it is now working, but please let me know if the bugs have been worked out so the updates are live. Thanks!

@OASAcademy I’d wait to update your X Theme to the new version until they can have a look at it. I’ve wasted several days of my time already, working with my web host and with the feedback from Theme.co, and my site has been completely offline for substantial amounts of time.

Hello @SK_Parfait,

You gave access to the main site. We need the credentials to the staging site so that we can figure out why your server is throwing errors when you update the Theme to the latest which by the way, is not happening on our testing servers and most users.

Please provide access to the staging site in the secure note.

Thank you.

The staging site info was posted 2 days ago, again below.

Hello @SK_Parfait,

The access to the staging site is incorrect. We cannot log in using the given credentials you have given in your previous reply.

Please see the secure note.

Thanks.

I don’t understand what info do you need from me. I created the staging site, there is no separate login info for that. Please be specific in what you are asking for.

Hello @SK_Parfait,

Please check out the image screenshot on the secure note below so that you will have the idea where we cannot access using the given credentials.

Thanks.

The credentials I sent you days ago are exactly the same and I’m able to log in just fine. Maybe clear your cache and try again? I’m sending the credentials in the secure note for the third time now.

Hey @SK_Parfait,

The login credentials only work for your live site. It doesn’t work for your staging site. Please double-check and please give us FTP or cPanel access as asked previously by @tristup because in case your site goes down, we can see the error message generated in the error log and with that, we can’t point you to the cause of the issue.

Checking your live site, it’s currently using PHP 7.3 and not PHP 7.4. Before updating X and Cornerstone, please try upgrading to PHP to 7.4.

Please be reminded again that we need FTP or cPanel access. If you’re not familiar with this, please ask your web host to give you this info.

Also note that if the latest version of X and Cornerstone, thousands of websites will be down including our sites running them. But, that isn’t the case. There is probably a different factor at play and it would be best that before reporting the issue to us, you try all the solutions listed in our Troubleshooting article here https://theme.co/docs/common-issues

Thanks.

The Php has been updated and the additional information is in the secure note. I’m going off of what Bluehost is telling me, that the website errors are due to your theme.

Hey @SK_Parfait,

The credential of your staging area is still not working, please update it as requested by my colleagues. Also, the FTP you provided is working but can’t access the root file. I suggest that you reach out to your hosting provider and ask them to provide you with the correct folder path.

Thank you.

You access the staging site via the regular login and can toggle between them. From the dashboard go to Bluehost - Staging so there is no separate log in. I’ll add screenshots to the secure note. The webhost also created a new FTP login for you.

Hey @SK_Parfait,

Thanks for updating the FTP credentials, I went ahead and check the issue of your staging area. The issue has something to do with the compatibility between X and Cornerstone plugin. Your X version is 9.1.4 which is not compatible with Cornerstone plugin version 6.0.8. To fix the issue, here are the things I have done:

  • Rename the X theme to something else to disable it using FTP
  • After renaming the X theme, I am now able to access the staging area
  • Delete the currently installed Cornerstone plugin and X theme
  • Upload a fresh copy of theX theme
  • Install again the latest Cornerstone plugin, I use the link to the dashboard to automatically install it.

Hope that helps.

Great, thank you! So the website is all up to date with the versions? It’s still working so thank you for that.

Hi @SK_Parfait,

You’re welcome! If you have any other concerns or clarifications regarding our theme features, feel free to open up a new thread.

Thank you.
