Using Cloudinary with WP for static image delivery

Hello everyone

I have a question regarding delivering images to wordpress using cloudinary.

Would it be beneficial to add some or most of my page images (e.g. bg images, static images, slider images) using cloudinary or would it be better for me to just store them in the WP media library and load them that way?

I currently have a cloudinary account and have stored images there and am wondering if I load images using the cloudinary url for the image would it impact page speed / performance?

I’m assuming it would since it has to make extra calls to the cloudinary server but would like others opinions or want to know if anyone else does this?

I know that cloudinary has a plugin but it doesn’t have very good ratings so i will stay away from it for now.

thank you
