I’d like the title tooltip to appear on all the posts displayed on category pages and front page which I’m using the recent_post shortcode to display posts from various categories. How do I do that?

Hi Martin,
Did you add some customization for the recent post shortcode because by default, the items displayed in the recent post blocks should include the title attribute just like what you can see here.
If you added some custom codes, the title element of the recent post items should be from this line of code:

Is it possible to eliminate the word “Permalink to:” in the tooltip title?

Yes, I would suggest you to move the code and other changes from Theme parent files to child theme so that when theme is updated in future, changes are not lost. To learn more about child theme, please take a look at following resource.

No, none of that path is right. You need to copy the entire Recent Posts function code on your Child theme’s functions.php file.

There you need to do you your modification, besides from your modification (removing title) you also need to change the function name x_shortcode_recent_posts to a different name, one that does not already exist. As you can see on the sample code above I renamed it to new_function_name
Then you also need to add this another function to execute the swap of recent_posts to your modified recent_posts

Thanks Friech.
Just don’t understand why the need to have the words ‘Permalink to:’ in the title. I’ll just modify the plugin file, just a few seconds job if I remember with the updates. Don’t want the functions.php in child theme to go for miles long just for a change like this.
